1. Linenspa 8 Inch Memory Foam and Innerspring Hybrid

Linenspa 8 Inch Memory Foam and Spring Hybrid Mattress

  • Compressed mattress; 24-72 hrs expansion
  • Hybrid: foam + springs
  • 3 profiles
  • Medium-firm; versatile use
  • 10-year warranty

If you're looking for an affordable RV mattress, you need to look at the Linenspa Memory Foam and Innerspring Hybrid mattresses. While we highlighted the 8″ model here, they also have a 10″ and a 12″ option available for those looking for a little extra comfort.

The advantage to using a memory foam and spring hybrid mattress is the price. Memory foam is one of the more expensive components in a mattress and by combining it with springs, Linenspa was able to reduce the price significantly.

While this does sacrifice some of the comfort, you're still getting a great quality mattress, and if you're not using it every day, it's not a big deal. This mattress does come with a 10-year manufacturer's warranty, which gives you peace of mind in knowing this mattress is going to last a long time inside your RV.

Pros

  • 8″ mattress (options for 10″ and 12″ available)
  • Affordably priced
  • 10-year manufacturer warranty

Cons

  • Only partially memory foam – the other part is spring

2. Sealy 8-Inch Memory Foam Bed in a Box with CopperChill

Sealy - Memory Foam Bed with CopperChill

  • Memory foam mattress
  • Soft comfort layers
  • Dense support foam
  • CopperChill for cool sleep

Sealy is known for making extremely comfortable mattresses, and they don't disappoint with this 8″ memory foam mattress. Not only do you get an extremely comfortable bed, but it's infused with CopperChill too, which conducts heat away from your body, making for a more comfortable night’s rest.

This unique compound is something that you'll only find with a Sealy mattress, and it keeps cool and comfortable all night long.

In addition, this mattress comes with a 10-year warranty, but it's unlikely that you'll need it given the reliable design of Sealy products.

Finally, while this is a great mattress, it is a little more expensive than the other 8″ mattresses that we reviewed here.

Pros

  • Memory Foam construction gives extra comfort
  • Provides a cooler and more comfortable sleep
  • 10-year warranty

Cons

  • Expensive for an 8″ mattress

Like all the top mattress designs, it features a 10-year warranty. While this mattress is a more expensive design, you can opt for a 10″ design if you're looking for a more affordable option.

While almost every other mattress that we reviewed here utilizes memory foam in one way or another, this one doesn't. Instead, this is more of a traditional coil spring mattress. While we featured an 8″ mattress here, they also have a 10″ and 12″ mattress available if you want a little more comfort. Moreover, they all offer a durable and breathable design. Not only will this mattress last a long time, but you'll love the comfort it provides too!

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • 10-year warranty

Cons

  • 6″ mattress – better suited for toddlers and children

Buyer's Guide

We know how important it is to get the right mattress the first time. That's why we broke down everything you need to know before making your decision in this comprehensive buyer's guide. From making your decision to setting up your mattress, we have you covered here.

How Thick Should Your Mattress Be?

The thickness of your mattress is by far the most crucial decision that you need to make. While you can never go too thick, if you get a mattress that isn't thick enough, you're not going to have enough support, and you're going to wear out the mattress prematurely.

However, the thicker the mattress, the more you're going to end up paying. We'll break down each thickness below to help you make your decision.

6″ – These mattresses are among the thinnest out there, and they're ideal for children and toddlers. However, if you are a smaller individual, you might be able to get away with it, but most individuals and couples will want at least an 8″ mattress.

8″ – This is the thinnest size mattress that most adults should consider. Some of these mattresses have a 500-pound weight capacity though, so if you're sharing a bed, you might want to consider upgrading further.

10″ – This is the thinnest mattress most couples should consider. They're plenty thick enough to support two people, and you don't have to worry about them wearing out prematurely, even if you both are a little on the heavier side.

12″ – These are the thickest available mattresses from most manufacturers. If you're looking for a little extra support or if the kids and pets like to join you and your significant other, a 12″ mattress might be just what you need.

Memory Foam vs. Springs

Once you decide how thick you want your mattress, you need to determine what materials you want your mattress to be made from. There are two common designs in the industry today, springs and memory foam.

The advantage of memory foam is simple – it provides consistent support across the entire mattress instead of just a few areas.

This reduces pressure points and mitigates the risk of having a sore back in the morning. The tradeoff is the price. While innerspring mattresses are a little more uncomfortable, they're far more affordable.

Designs like the Linenspa Hybrid attempt to get the best of both worlds by having the springs push against the memory foam to reduce the pressure points. While this works to a degree, it's not as effective as a pure memory foam design.

Setting Up Your Mattress

All of the mattresses we reviewed here come in a box – that makes sense because you're ordering them online, and they need to ship them to you. But that does put the pressure on you to make sure that you set up everything correctly.

The good news is that it's easier than you think, and we'll walk you through everything you need to do here.

First, you need to order your mattress. Read the reviews above and pick out your dream mattress. But make sure you leave plenty of time for your mattress to arrive before you need it – especially since it won't be ready to go the day you get it.

Once it arrives, you need to open it up and lay it out somewhere. Picking the right location is key. As it expands, it needs to be left alone, so somewhere with a lot of traffic where pets and people can't easily trample on it is ideal. Moreover, it needs to have time to expand.

When you get a 10″ thick mattress, it's likely only going to be between 5″ and 7″ thick when you get it. That's perfectly normal, and it'll expand once it's left out of the packaging. Layout the mattress in your selected location and remove any packaging.

At this point, you've already done all the hard steps – now all you need to do is wait. Some mattress manufacturers will recommend 24-hours, but it's usually safer to let it sit out for at least 72-hours before using it.

During this time, it's imperative that you don't use the mattress – if you do, you can keep it from fully expanding, which will affect how comfortable your mattress is for the rest of its usable life.

When you think your mattress has fully expanded, go ahead and measure it. The thickness of the mattress should roughly match what you purchased. Once it does, you're good to go! Throw on the sheets and enjoy your new, comfortable mattress!

Conclusion

The next time your head hits the pillow, make sure that you have a mattress that's going to keep it there. While there are plenty of factors you need to consider, hopefully this guide walked you through everything you need to know to make the right decision the first time.

So, what are you waiting for? Of all the decisions you'll need to make, deciding to upgrade is the easiest. Read our reviews and get the perfect mattress today. You'll get the best sleep of your life on your next vacation.
