Are you about the buy a Walmart car battery and is wondering about their warranty? My son has been working at Walmart for two years now, so for this article he will be my primary source of information backed up by reading on their website. I will keep this super simple so you can skim through and find the information you need.
Quick Tip: If you are about to purchase a new battery from Walmart, make sure to copy the recipe and attach it with your documents in the glove box. The numbers on the printed recipe can fade away as the years go by; that's why you should save a copy.
Walmart Car Battery Warranty Explained
This will differ for each battery, so read on the description before you purchase or on your current battery.
Walmarts Everystart batteries include a 5-year warranty, the first years you will receive a free battery if anything happens with your first one. The last 2 year you get a pro-rated price on your next battery purchase.
What means pro-rated you ask?
A pro-rated warranty is based on this exact formula.
(Age of battery) Divided by 60 Times the new battery price.
So if you bought your battery 3 years and 5 months ago, the age will equal 41 months and let's say the price of your new battery is 100 bucks. Then the following formula would be the following:
41 / 60 * 100 = 68.33$
68.33$ Would then be the price of your new battery. You can calculate this yourself or use my calculator below.

[CP_CALCULATED_FIELDS id=”1″]Does the new battery I get as a replacement come with its own new warranty, effectively restarting a warranty?
The short answer is no because of the old warranty you have is still active.
To restart the Walmarts warranty process you need to buy a new battery at full price. There is a lot of people sending in claims because of this, but in reality, it makes a lot of sense since Walmart cant give away free batteries either. But it should be mentioned during your second battery purchase, sadly this is often skipped or forgotten.
This is what you have to do to claim the warranty
Before you leave you need to know how to approach the employes and Walmart. I have seen a lot of complaints at Walmarts warranty, service and all that, but I think it's essential you do your part as well before you file a complaint.
What I mean by this is that the employes at Wallmart aren't graduated in Walmarts warranty and policies, they probably got a short brief on the basic warranty they give on the most product which is usually 90 days.
Which means they have no clue how Walmarts battery warranty works, that is why it's your job to stand by your ground and let know what their policy actually is. Dont be rude about it, approach it in a polite, but firm way.
If you tried the nice approach and they didnt help you out then call on their manager. The manager will often resolve the issue and help you out. If that doesn't work either, well shame on them and then file a complaint or contact their customer service. I will show you how to do this in the F.A.Q section.
My experience with Walmarts Car Battery Warranty
I have used Walmart for both installation and supplier for my ford since its life existence, and I must say I have not had any unpleasant experiences with them what so ever. I do make sure to store my recipe safely either in their app or in the glove apartment as I mentioned earlier.
Approaching them in a friendly manner and knowing what my rights have usually solved my issue. I do live in a smaller town so the people who work there know me which could impact my great experience, but again I do think if you have my tips in mind you will come further in your try. The employes are humans, if your treat them well you will be treated well, at least in most cases.
