The suitability of a mesh depends on the speed and performance it delivers.
So, when I tested this TP-Link router with my Gigabit connection, the real-time speeds of two 5GHz bands were 1600 Mbps and 700 Mbps, respectively. In contrast, the speed is 250-300 Mbps for the 2.4GHz band. So, to use your internet at its fastest, I’d recommend connecting with the 5GHz band while you’re close to the nodes.

It’s simple to install and use, making it an excellent mesh WiFi for gigabit internet. And the model is a substantial upgrade over its predecessor, Netgear Orbi RBS750, which comes with dual bands and lesser coverage.
Why is it suited for Gig Internet?
The mesh system is the ultimate compatibility to your high-speed Gigabit internet, with speeds reaching up to 1400 Mbps, 700 Mbps, and 300 Mbps for two 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands, respectively. I was elated with the speeds I received, and I could download large gigabit movies in a few seconds.
Further, it’s integrated with MU-MIMO technology, allowing the router to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously. It, in turn, decreases the wait time for each device to receive a signal, dramatically speeding up the network.
WiFi Coverage
The Orbi RBK752 comes with a primary router and a node. The main router has 6 antennas housed inside to provide excellent coverage throughout an area of up to 5000 Sq Ft. This meant that this two-box unit could provide a consistent network user experience on my large 2-story house. Plus, I could connect 40 devices simultaneously without experiencing a network slowdown.
Although if there isn’t a need to connect so many devices at once or have the facilities to establish a wired connection to the system, I’d recommend you do it. You can experience even faster speeds by connecting with the Gigabit Ethernet ports.
Setup & App Support
Installing this mesh router is much simpler through an Orbi app. After plugging the router in, install the app on your phone, register yourself using a username and password, and you’re in. Now you can use the app to add any device, or network, change the settings, and much more.
Security Features
Switch the Netgear Armor on using the app to keep your network and devices connected to it safe from unknown attackers. There are also smart parental controls to limit WiFi use for children and block access to malicious or explicit content.
Conclusion
Netgear can be a suitable WiFi system for gigabit internet. Now you can experience Gig-level speed, play games, and stream or download large-sized movies on multiple devices simultaneously without any network drops. The speeds are a tad low compared to my previous option but are suitable for your gigabit internet plan.

Next on my list is an inexpensive Wi-Fi 6 tri-band mesh by Linksys that offers a sophisticated optimization protocol, good throughput, and a 3-year warranty. It is an excellent mesh WiFi to use in large buildings, workspaces, and studios.
And compared to its previous version, Linksys AX2200, it comes with a higher speed, coverage, and stable network connection.
Why is it suited for Gig Internet?
The Linksys AX4000 scores ten-pointers regarding its compatibility with the Gig internet. Compared to its previous versions, it comes with an additional 5GHz band dedicated primarily to backhaul communication. This, in turn, eliminates network congestion and leads to faster transfer of data.
So, when I tested the mesh system, I received speeds up to 1.5Gbps for the 5GHz backhaul band, 700 Mbps for the 5GHz band, and 300 Mbps for the 2.4GHz band.
The device includes Next-Gen OFDMA technology, which improves wireless network performance by establishing independent modulating subcarriers with specific frequency ranges. In non-technical words, this allows simultaneous data transmission from and to multiple clients.

With a new 6GHz band, powerful antennas, and other in-built hardware, it fills your modest house with high-speed internet and a secure environment. The upgraded hardware and intuitive software make it a viable upgrade over Deco X60.
Why is it suited for Gig Internet?
I spent a couple of weeks testing Deco XE75 at my old house paired with a Gigabit plan and ran multiple rounds of tests in multiple rooms. I did so on my Wi-Fi 6E-supported Samsung Galaxy S21, and the results were pretty impressive.
In close proximity, the highest 6GHz band clocked 1.2 Gbps, while speeds for the other two bands averaged roughly 550 Mbps and 150 Mbps, respectively. On the other hand, speeds at a distance apart were 970 Mbps, 400 Mbps, and 75 Mbps for three respective bands.
Aside from that, the tri-band mesh ingrains technologies like MU-MIMO, OFDMA, and others to boost network stability. It worked well with various uses, from video calls to large downloads and emails to online gaming. I turned my house into a gaming den, and none of the gaming consoles had any issues.
WiFi Coverage
Coverage is the strongest suit of this Wi-Fi 6e mesh. Its 4 high-gain internal antennas form a signal-boosting array to cover large areas. At a high, it can cover a maximum area of 5,500 Sq Ft, and it had no issue covering my mansion-style 3,900 Sq Ft large home.
Besides that, there’s 802.11k/v and AI-driven mesh technology in which all Deco units harmoniously work together to form a unified network. Your devices automatically connect to the strongest network as you roam around, creating a seamless online experience.
Setup & App Support
As for the setup, you won’t have to worry much about it. Like every other option on the list, it comes with a companion app that guides you through the setup process within minutes. From there, you are a few taps away from controlling the mesh network with the Deco app’s user-friendly interface.

The Deco AXE5400 has got everything for everyone. ASUS ZenWiFi is a dual-band mesh WiFi system for large homes. And thanks to its high-speed AX-5400 radio, people can experience consistent throughput across the area. The unit is a massive upgrade over its predecessor, Asus ZenWifi XD4, in terms of speed, coverage, and better transmission power.
Why is it suited for Gig Internet?
Although this mesh system promises a faster connection, I tested it with Xfinity’s $200 Gigabit plan, which offers up to 1200-1800 Mbps speeds. The download and upload speeds with the 5GHz band were 1500 Mbps and 200 Mbps, while speeds for the 2.4GHz band were 800 and 75 Mbps, respectively. And the speeds were enough for a stable video call and live streaming on Twitch.
I’ve ranked this system #1 in my list of mesh routers for thick walls, thanks to the adaptive QoS, which uses QoS throughput to establish individual volume limits, and ensures that idle workloads don’t interfere with ongoing tasks.
WiFi Coverage
In terms of coverage, Asus ZenWiFi XD6 has 6 internal antennas that can deliver a constant throughput and speeds across an area of up to 5,400 Sq Ft. This mesh system eliminated the network dead zones and drops, and I could enjoy a seamless network using experience in more than 50 devices simultaneously.
Setup & App Support
Asus has always been concerned and has prioritized the security and safety of customers with its products. Its mesh system comes with a lifetime subscription to Asus AI Protection Pro, which performs security scans, blocks malicious websites, isolates infected devices, and protects against unknown attackers.
Security Features
Trend Micro-powered parental control software lets you create profiles for your family members and their devices. You can customize internet browsing schedules, temporarily disable network access, and view each member’s total online hours. Also, you can prevent your children from accessing potentially explicit content or dangerous websites.
Conclusion
Asus ZenWiFi XD6 is an excellent choice for people looking for a viable companion for their Gigabit internet plan. It’s easy to set up and manage with an Asus app and comes with free parental control and network security software. However, it lacks advanced technologies like OFDMA and MU-MIMO, ranking this low on the list.

Amazon Eero 6+, with Wi-Fi 6 support, can run your gigabit internet without dropping the speeds or producing any network dead zones. It is much easier to install and use, making it suitable for people new to these mesh networks. And, with better radios and wider channels, it is an upgrade over its previous model, Amazon Eero 6.
Why is it suited for Gig Internet?
Compared to Eero 6, the system is a substantial upgrade in speed. Offering speeds up to 1075-1150 Mbps and 250 Mbps for 5GHz and 2.4GHz, respectively, on my devices.
I did use this with my Xfinity Gigabit connection, but I was also able to test this mesh system with FiOS gigabit and the speeds were consistent throughout all my tests. For instance, I first added 20 devices to download large files. However, the respective speeds dropped to 800 Mbps and 100 Mbps when I moved far away from the satellites, i.e., in the garden or garage.
However, thanks to Amazon-patented technology, TrueMesh, there were no speed drops or lags anywhere I went. It works harmoniously with the antennas to eliminate excess traffic and deliver consistent throughput everywhere. Also, it directs the signals intelligently to eliminate any network dead zones.
WiFi Coverage
With 2×2 2.4GHz antennas and 2×2 5GHz antennas, Amazon Eero 6+ covers an area of up to 3,000 Sq Ft, the size of a small workspace or a large house. Mine was the former, and I connected more than 75 devices simultaneously, and my team members could work in harmony without issues like network lags, latencies, or slowing down.
Also, if you plan on building a wired mesh network with ethernet ports, this one won’t disappoint you, courtesy of 4 Gig LAN ports.
On the other hand, if you do not have more than two devices to connect, I’d suggest plugging them directly into the router. Connecting through Gigabit Ethernet ports, you can achieve even faster internet speeds with restricted movement.
Setup & App Support
The uniquely designed Eero app lets you fully control the mesh system and use it in any way you wish. You don’t need to be tech-savvy to work with; just a few taps followed by the instructions let you complete the setup process. Once you’re in, you can check the connected devices, group them into specific profiles, and ad blocking.
Security Features
Eero Secure and Secure+ protect your network from unwanted threats, attackers, and viruses. You can change the settings and check their activities using the app.

This Netgear Nighthawk MK63S with 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 support, two satellites, and other features make it a viable upgrade over its predecessor, Nighthawk MK63.
Why is it suited for Gig Internet?
With my Xfinity gigabit plan, this mesh system was plenty fast, and the top speeds clocked were 900 Mbps and 300 Mbps for 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands, respectively. The speeds, however, dropped by almost 200 Mbps when I moved to areas like the garage or garden but were fast enough to stream and download 4K and UHD videos and movies.
The only issue I had was that the system took a very long to switch nodes. When I was running from one room to another carrying speed tests, speeds would plummet, compelling me to disconnect and reconnect to achieve the average speed. However, with MU-MIMO support, you’d receive high signal strength when steady, and there’d be no potential network drops or slowdowns.
WiFi Coverage
The 3-pack kit comes with a router and two satellites which covers an area of 4,500 Sq Ft, and you can connect more than 25 devices simultaneously with consistent speed output. However, you mustn’t place the satellites near the router and position them strategically to achieve greater coverage.
Furthermore, the satellites come with beamforming support that doesn’t allow signals to scatter in all directions but accumulate to form a beam directed towards a target device. This, in turn, leads to faster speeds and fewer lags or latencies. My dad and brother were pretty satisfied with the speeds they received and could complete their respective tasks without obstructions.
App Support & Security Features
Similar to other mesh WiFi systems that can handle gigabit plans, setting up this one doesn’t take much time. Netgear’s Nighthawk app guided me through the setup process, and my network was up and running within a few minutes. You can use the app to change the network settings, view the devices connected, and the number of hours your kids spend online.
Conclusion
Netgear mesh router comes at a reasonable price which makes it pretty tempting. Despite offering high speeds, stability was an issue with the device, and therefore is ranked below my list. In value, you’re getting a three-pack (1 router, 2 nodes), whereas other products on the list offer two packs.

If you’re looking for a cheap mesh system that can handle gigabit speeds, then consider the Google Nest 2nd Gen. It is a WiFi 5 device, so is a little less secure than the above-listed WiFi 6 mesh systems. However, that doesn’t mean it’s a bad device, WiFi 5 is a secure wireless standard too.

The final product on my list is a cheap yet good mesh WiFi for Gig Internet. It’s easy to install, works perfectly with any Gigabit ISP, and offers greater coverage. It also has twice the RAM and CPU of the first-gen Google Nest model, as well as more antennas for better and faster connectivity.
Why is it suited for Gig Internet?
Google Nest 2nd gen mesh router comes with WiFi5 support, which is a downgrade considering all other devices on my list. However, it pairs perfectly with my Gigabit plan, and I could download UHD movies and videos at almost 1Gbps at the 5GHz band, which is my primary purpose behind purchasing a mesh router. The speed was 200 Mbps when connected to the 2.4GHz band.
These were the speeds when I was connected within 5 meters of the router. So, when I moved almost 75 meters away from the router to my kitchen, the speeds almost reduced by 30-40% to 600-700 Mbps and 120 Mbps for 5GHz and 2.4GHz, respectively. Nevertheless, the speed was considerably high than a traditional router.
It’s mainly due to the integration of MU-MIMO technology that eliminates the possibility of network congestion and provides users with a better user experience and speed.
WiFi Coverage
The Nest WiFi routers work harmoniously to blanket your area with reliable, fast network connection and potentially eliminate buffering in any corner within an area of 4,400 Sq Ft.
Although Google claims the device can handle 200 devices, I started experiencing network lags when I connected 193 devices. However, to be honest, a normal household doesn’t have more than 50 devices connected simultaneously (including smart home devices).
App Support & Security Features
Google has always prioritized security in its devices, and this mesh router is integrated with an advanced security chip that keeps your network and all connected devices safe and sound. You will get periodic updates on the Nest WiFi app, which allows you to secure your data.
Besides that, using its parental controls, you can manage your kids’ online time, pause the device anytime, and block explicit content.
Conclusion
Overall, it is a wise and practical upgrade to your home network, especially if you are experiencing network dead zones. It’s less expensive than most models and works well with your Gigabit plan. However, the speeds are significantly lower than those of our previous models, placing it lower on the list.
