Receiving your benefit payments

When you file an SSDI or SSI claim, you will be asked to choose a payment method. You can receive your benefit payments via direct deposit or debit card.

Direct Deposit

Direct deposit is the safest and most convenient way to receive your SSDI or SSI payments. This option deposits the money directly into your checking or savings account.

Once direct deposit is set up, the payment is automatically deposited each month.

Direct Express Debit Card

The Direct Express Mastercard lets you access your benefit payments without needing a bank account. Your benefit payment is added to your card balance, and your monthly funds are ready to be used that same day.

Please note: If you didn't receive your payment on time, please wait three business days before contacting the SSA.
