The Social Security Administration (SSA) uses a specific method to schedule monthly SSDI and SSI benefits. The payment date is based on a few different factors, such as your birth date, when you started receiving benefits, and the type of disability insurance you have.
Keep reading to find out when your SSDI payment will arrive.
November 2024 Disability Payment Schedule
Will my SSDI check come early in November 2024?
If your birthday falls between: | Your SSDI benefit is paid: |
1st – 10th of the month | Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 |
11th – 20th of the month | Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024 |
21st – 31st of the month | Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024 |
The schedule for SSDI payments is based on your birth date. If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month, payments are sent on the second Wednesday of the month. If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th, you'll receive payment on the third Wednesday. If your birthday is between the 21st to the 31st, payments are made on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Will my SSI check come early in November 2024?
SSI benefits are paid on the 1st of each month, with some exceptions.
November 2024 benefits will be paid on Friday, Nov. 01, 2024.
Your December 2024 SSI payment will arrive EARLY on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024. This is because Dec. 1st lands on the weekend.
Exceptions
There can be payment exceptions if the payment date lands on a weekend or federal holiday.
Federal Holiday Exception: If your SSDI payment date lands on a Federal holiday, benefits will be paid one day earlier.
Weekend Exception: For SSI payments, if the 1st of the month lands on a weekend, the SSI payment will be sent on the Friday before the 1st. This means that sometimes you can receive two SSI payments in the same month (and the next month will be skipped).
Claims Filed Before May 1997: Recipients who filed for benefits before May 1997 are paid on the 3rd of each month. For this group, the birth date is not used to determine the payment date.
Receiving Both SSDI and SSI: If you are receiving both SSDI and SSI, your SSDI benefit is paid on the 3rd of the month, and your SSI payment is paid on the 1st.
What day is my November 2024 payment?
Let’s take a look at the payment dates for November 2024 and make sure there aren't any upcoming exceptions caused by weekends or holidays.
Nov. 01: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is paid on the first of each month. You can expect your SSI payment to arrive on Friday, Nov. 01, 2024.
Nov. 01: Certain groups typically receive their SSDI payments on the third of the month. But payments will arrive on Nov. 1, 2024, since the third is on a weekend.
SSDI payments are sent to the following groups on the 3rd of each month:
- Beneficiaries who filed a claim before May 1997
- Beneficiaries who receive both SSDI and SSI
All other beneficiaries are assigned a payment day based on their birth date.
Nov. 13: Expect an SSDI payment on this day if your birthday falls between the 1st – 10th of the month. This group is paid on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
Nov. 20: SSDI benefits are paid to beneficiaries with a birth date that falls between the 11th – 20th of the month. This group gets paid on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Nov. 27: Beneficiaries with a birthday that lands between the 21st – 31st are paid on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
Nov. 29: Your December SSI payment will arrive early! This is because Dec. 1 lands on a weekend, so payment is made on the previous Friday.
Receiving your benefit payments
Federal law mandates that SSDI and SSI payments are paid electronically. You can choose to receive your benefit payments in one of two ways:
- Direct Deposit
- Direct Express Debit Mastercard
Direct Deposit
Direct deposit is the safest and most convenient way to receive your SSDI or SSI payments. This option sends the money straight to your bank account. You can sign up online at Go Direct or by calling 1-800-333-1795.
You can also log in to your mySocialSecurity account and update your payment preferences. Once set up, the payment is automatically deposited into your account each month, and the money can be used that same day.
Direct Express Debit Card
You can also choose to receive your benefits through a Direct Express debit card. The card lets you access your benefits and use the money to shop, pay bills, or get cash.
The Direct Express Mastercard lets you access your benefit payments without needing a bank account. Your federal payment goes right into your card account, and your monthly funds are ready on the same day.
To sign up, call the Direct Express hotline at 1-800-333-1795. You will need to provide your date of birth, Social Security number, and SSDI/SSI claim number.
How to report a lost or missing payment
Social Security benefits are usually paid on time, but there can be instances when they are late. Delays might occur if you recently applied for benefits, or recently updated your address or banking details.
Delays can be caused by SSA staffing shortages or holidays, so it's advised to wait three business days before contacting the SSA.
