If you like buying unusual gadgets and devices, you will find our article about 10 best levitating Bluetooth speakers in 2024 very interesting. After all, it introduces you to the actual speakers that levitate. It is not false advertising. They do levitate. Although they can be used as regular speakers that stand on your table or desk and play music wirelessly, you can set them above their base and listen to music while they levitate in the air. You must admit this is the more fun way.

What Are Levitating Bluetooth Speakers and Why Do We Need Them?

Levitating Bluetooth speakers are the devices that have managed to go one step further from the regular Bluetooth devices. They are wireless just like other Bluetooth speakers, they don’t limit your movement like regular wired speakers and they are portable because you can charge them and take them anywhere you go. The important thing here is that these speakers consist of two parts – the base and the speaker, that represent two big and strong magnets. The speaker levitates above the base because they are actually two opposite magnets that repel each other.

Levitating Bluetooth Speaker

These speakers can be used with or without the base. They will play any audio content you want, but if you want them to levitate, you will have to use it with the base. This is the only way to make them levitate and spin while the music is playing.

So, we have roughly explained what levitating Bluetooth speakers are and now we have to answer the question why you would need them. The honest answer is that we don’t really need them. You can find much cheaper speakers on the market that are more portable and sound much better than levitating speakers. If you want just an ordinary but highly portable speaker that sounds great, you should definitely look elsewhere. For a relatively small amount of money, you will find quality speaker with a great signal range that you will use for many years. If you want something extraordinary that will amaze all your friends and colleagues, Bluetooth levitating speaker is the right thing for you. They may not be the best sounding speakers on the market, but they do look great and nobody can deny that.

How Do Levitating Speakers Actually Work?

Levitating Bluetooth speakers may still be a real attraction for most of us but the principle they work on has been well known for decades and it is really very simple. Believe it or not, all of us were introduced to this principle many years ago, back in the school. Remember when your teacher was speaking about magnets and magnetic field they can create using just the force counteracting gravity? Well, the same force enables levitating speakers to levitate.

We have already said that these speakers consist of the base and the speaker itself. Both parts have built-in magnets which are very powerful. The magnet in the base is much bigger than the one in the speaker. The magnetic field can be created anytime although some claim that plugging in the base or charging the speaker completely can help to find the right position faster. In order to make the levitating part of the speaker to levitate above the base, you have to find the magnetic balance between the two parts, which is quite difficult sometimes. This is why some manufacturers that want to save their customers' time send them the special plastic template. First, you put the levitating part in the template and then you cover the base with the template. If you do it correctly, the parts of the speaker will find the balance easier and the upper part will start levitating. After that, you can simply take off the template and enjoy the view and sound.

The interesting thing is that the parts of the levitating speaker can be used separately and in different ways. The truth is that you can’t make the speaker levitate without the magnetic base, but if you don’t need it to levitate, you can simply put the speaker (the levitating part) in your bag and take it anywhere you want. It will work normally even without the base.

The base can be used as the charger not only for the levitating part of the speaker but also for your other devices that are charged via USB cable. In addition, some manufacturers claim that the base increases the quality of sound because it acts as some kind of subwoofer.

The Advantages of Levitating Bluetooth Speakers

Levitating Bluetooth speakers may look like some unrealistic gadgets from Sci-Fi movies, but they are real and they have been on the market for a few years now. They haven’t been perfected yet, but they have many advantages and we have listed them below.

Levitating Bluetooth speakers are funny

We bet none of your friends has ever noticed or paid attention to your regular Bluetooth speaker. On the other hand, if you buy a speaker that levitates, especially if its movements correspond to the rhythm of the music played at the moment, no one would be able to ignore that. Levitating Bluetooth speakers aren’t interesting only to other people, they are also the source of endless fun for their owners. If it’s interesting for some people to observe how the subwoofer moves along with the music beat, imagine how interesting it must be watching the speaker rotating above the magnetic base while playing music.

Levitating Bluetooth speakers look good in your home/office

These speakers look very attractive and we are sure that any of them can bring more life into most of the apartments and boring offices. They usually come in neutral colors that can fit easily into any environment and can be matched with different kinds of modern furniture.

Levitating Bluetooth speakers (and their parts) can be used in different ways

Because of their structure, levitating speakers can be used in many different ways and in different situations. If you want the speaker to float, you have to use it with its base. In case you want a small Bluetooth speaker that can be thrown in a pocket or bag and transported easily to any location, you can take only the upper part of the levitating speaker. It can stand normally on most of the metal surfaces that attract magnets. In case you want to charge the speaker or any other USB enabled device (phone, player, etc.) you can use the base as it can be connected to the wall socket and used as a charger.

The Main Disadvantages of Levitating Bluetooth Speakers

It can be difficult to find the balance

Finding the magnetic balance between the speaker and the base can be very difficult even with the help of the plastic template. Imagine how difficult and time-consuming it can be if you don’t have the template. It takes some time and skill to set the parts correctly one above the other and not all of us are patient enough for things like that.

Levitating Bluetooth speakers aren’t very portable

If you use them with the base, these speakers can occupy a lot of space in your bag. They aren’t too big or too heavy, but it is definitely easier to put some small Bluetooth speaker in the bag and carry it around (or take the upper part of levitating speaker) than using the speaker with the base.

Levitating Bluetooth speakers are difficult to control

These speakers are very light and their work is based on the strength of the magnetic field. This means the magnetic balance that is necessary for levitating can be easily disturbed if you press the speaker too hard or too often. In these situations, the levitating part will fall down on the base. The speaker will keep playing the music but the sad part is that it’s not going to levitate anymore. This is why it is advisable to use your phone if you want to adjust the volume or skip a song.

The List of 10 Best Levitating Bluetooth Speakers

1. Ice 7 Arc Star Floating Bluetooth Speaker

Ice 7

Check Price on Amazon

Ice 7 Arc Star is a relatively expensive levitating Bluetooth speaker that comes in two basic colors – black and white. The speaker has the circular shape and it is designed to deliver 360-degree sound. It can be used with or without the base and its battery can last up to 8 hours per charge. The speaker is not very big (5.9×4.92×4.92 inches) and it weighs 2 pounds. It supports Bluetooth and NFC technology.

As we have already said, the speaker (the levitating part of the speaker) is shaped like a ball. On the top of the speaker, you will find the LED light that shows you if the speaker is on, paired or in the process of pairing. Below the ring, you will see the Bluetooth and power on/off buttons as well as micro USB charging port. The base looks like some kind of vinyl record, mostly because of the grooves on it. On the base, you will find the USB charging port that you can use to charge the speaker or to charge some other device. There is also the charging port for the base itself that you use to connect the base to the wall socket via charging cable.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a very nice and elegant black box. In the box, you will find the power adapter, USB charging cable, user manual, the ball and the base. The package looks really expensive and the content is well-protected.

 Things we like

One of the things that amazed us about this speaker is the fact that it levitates 10 mm above its base. The speaker looks quite attractive in both black/green and white/blue color combinations, especially when the LED lights are on. The same lights that form the ring around the speaker and that shine at the top of it, exist on the base. There are four of them and they aren’t there just for fun.

The speaker has large and very powerful built-in magnets. A plastic template would be useful but you can make the speaker levitate on your own. After a few attempts, you will get used to it and become better at doing it. The LED lights look very nice; they are simple and elegant and they make the speaker look like some planet moving around its orbit.

The battery can last up to 8 hours, which is very nice for this kind of speaker and you can charge the speaker even while it levitates. The base can be used for charging your phone or player because it has 1,500mAh built-in battery and it acts as a regular charging dock.

The speaker can be used without the base as a regular Bluetooth speaker. The sound quality is more than decent for a speaker of this size. It rotates so you should be able to hear the sound equally, no matter where you are standing. The speaker sounds quite clear and balanced. There is no significant distortion even at higher volumes. NFC and Bluetooth features work nicely and the connection is quite stable.

 Things we don’t like

One of the first things we noticed the moment we opened the box is that the speaker doesn’t come with a plastic template that would really help to establish the magnetic balance easier.

There are no control buttons on the speaker itself (volume controls, for example) so you have to use your phone if you want to adjust the volume or skip a track.

Some customers aren’t satisfied with the loudness and claim there are many regular speakers that can play music louder than this one.

2. ReVolt Levio EL-3663 Bluetooth Levitating Speaker System

ReVolt Levio

Check Price on Amazon

ReVolt Levio EL-3663 is a relatively expensive Bluetooth levitating speaker. It comes in one color only and it is black with red elements. The dimensions of the speaker are 5.9×4.3×5.9 inches while it weighs 3.7 pounds. It supports Bluetooth technology (4.0 version) and it has the battery which can last up to 8 hours per single charge. You can also use the NFC technology in case you have an Android phone that supports NFC pairing.

The speaker system consists of two parts. The first part is the circular speaker that looks like a ball. On the top of the ball, you will find the red LED light. Red LED lights are also present in the form of a red ring that goes around the speaker. Between the top and the LED ring light, you can see the mesh covering the omnidirectional speaker that delivers 360-degree sound. Below the ring, you will see the power on/off and Bluetooth mode buttons as well as the micro USB charging port.

The second part of the system is the base that reminds us of a thick vinyl record. It has four LED lights that assist you during establishing magnetic balance. There is also the USB charging port as well as the port for connecting the power cable. The base has a 1,500mAh battery and it can be used as a charging dock.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes with the power cable, user manual and the USB to micro USB charging cable.

 Things we like

ReVolt Levio is one good-looking speaker. It has very nice design and it looks particularly good when the LED lights are on. When the music is playing, you can spin the speaker and it will keep spinning while you will be able to see the inside of the ball illuminated with red light. We have to admit that it looks amazing.

The speaker seems well-built and quite durable, so we really believe it can last for a long time. Besides, there were no major complaints regarding the durability of this speaker system. It is supposed to be more durable than the regular speaker because it is a Bluetooth speaker and it is meant to be used outdoors.

The sound this speaker delivers is quite good. It is not the best sound in the world, but it is more than satisfying considering the price. One of the greatest features is that the speaker is omnidirectional and you will hear your songs equally no matter where you stand because the speaker spins.

The quality of Bluetooth connection is very good as well as the battery life (although the last one could be better). However, the speaker has everything you need to amaze your friends at home or in your office. The only important thing you have to know if you want to use the ball speaker without the base is that you have to charge it.

 Things we don’t like

ReVolt Levio has some flaws that won’t make it less amazing, but you should be aware of them.

For example, the base has to be plugged in or the levitating part won’t be able to levitate. That means you have to place the speaker system near the wall socket and that can sometimes be quite difficult to achieve.

The design of this speaker, no matter how attractive it is, is everything but unique. If you have surfed the Internet, you must have realized that this speaker looks pretty much the same as some other speakers on the market.

The speaker system doesn’t come with the plastic centering template. It’s not so difficult to establish magnetic balance with the help of four red LED lights but we wouldn’t reject the template that makes this process much shorter and easier.

There are no control buttons on the speaker itself or on the base. If you want to skip a song or adjust the volume, you would have to reach for your phone.

Although the speaker delivers very nice and pleasant sound, don’t expect too much if you love loud music. If you turn the volume up to the maximum, be prepared for some distortion. Some customers claim this speaker doesn’t deliver enough bass.

3. SainSonic SS-01 Bluetooth Floating Levitating Speaker

SainSonic SS-01

Check Price on Amazon

The third speaker on our list of 10 best Bluetooth levitating speakers reminds us a lot of the two previously reviewed models. Its other characteristics also remind us of some other Bluetooth levitating speakers but that doesn’t make this one less interesting. It comes in white/blue and black/red color combinations. The speaker is relatively small; it has 5-inch diameter, the base is 0.9 inches high, while the total height of the speaker system is 4.7 inches. The ball levitates 10mm above the base and the total system weight is approximately 2 pounds. The speaker supports Bluetooth 4.0 version with 10m range as well as NFC pairing.

The speaker system has two parts; the speaker ball and the round base. On the top of the speaker, you will find the LED indicator light that shows you if the speaker is on, in pairing mode or paired. Below the LED light, there is the mesh that partially covers the driver inside the ball but lets the blue or red light out that makes the speaker even more interesting. The ring that goes around the speaker shines red or blue and above the ring, you will see two buttons (the power button and the Bluetooth mode button) and micro USB charging port. The base has four LED lights that aren’t there just for the looks. You can use them to easily make the speaker levitate. On a side, you will find the USB charging port and the port for connecting the power adapter.

 What’s in the box?

SainSonic SS-01 speaker comes with the power cable, user manual, USB to micro USB charging cable and soft carrying bag for transporting the speaker.

 Things we like

SS-01 is nicely designed and not so expensive speaker system. It comes in nice color combinations and it becomes even more interesting when the LED lights are on. The speaker (the levitating ball) can be used with or without the base. When you use it with the base, the speaker levitates. Otherwise, it won’t be able to levitate but it will definitely be able to play your favorite music wherever you go. It is small and light and it has its carrying bag – it has everything you need for safe transport.

The speaker seems to be nicely built and quite durable. We believe that it really is durable because it is meant for both indoor and outdoor use. The Bluetooth connection is quite stable and it works nicely, just like the NFC pairing function. The pairing process is very simple and fast and the speaker is compatible with all kinds of Bluetooth-enabled devices.

SainSonic speaker delivers very pleasant sound and it is quite loud. The mids, highs, and lows are distinctive. Nothing special really but good enough for any ordinary user. The good thing is that the speaker spins and that the mesh covers the whole upper part of the ball, so the music should sound the same no matter where you're standing.

 Things we don’t like

SS-01 speaker system has no control buttons. If you want to play, stop, pause music, skip a track or turn the volume up or down, you would have to use your phone.

The speaker doesn’t come with a plastic template, which makes it more difficult to make the speaker levitate. You have to hold the speaker with both hands and try to put it above the center of the base. If all of the LED lights aren’t on, the position is not right. You should also feel the magnetic force when the magnet in the base ‘’connects’’ with the magnet in the speaker.

When sound quality is concerned, we have to warn you about the distortion at high volumes. It’s not a huge disadvantage, but we don’t recommend turning the volume to the max.

4. B4M ORB Portable Bluetooth Levitating Speaker

B4M ORB

Check Price on Amazon

B4M Orb is one of the inexpensive speakers on the list that offers a lot of fun and pleasure for a small amount of money. It supports Bluetooth 4.1 version with 30ft signal range, it has one 5W driver and it levitates 10mm above the base. Apart from Bluetooth, B4M Orb enables you to use NFC pairing. As always, you can use the speaker without the base. The product comes in black/red and ice silver colors, its dimensions are 6x6x6 inches while it weighs 2 pounds. The battery can last up to 8 hours per charge.

The levitating part of the speaker system is the speaker itself. It is shaped like a ball that has the LED indicator light on the top. The light will appear when you turn on the speaker and it will blink in pairing mode. There is also the NFC point so if you tap the spot with your NFC-enabled Android phone (you can’t use NFC pairing if you have iPhone), the process of pairing will become even faster. Below the NFC point, you have the LED light shaped like a ring that goes around the speaker and shines while the music is playing. Below the ring, you will see the power on/off button, Bluetooth pairing key and the micro USB charging port. The base is rounded and it has four LED lights on the top panel, while the power port and the USB charging port are on the side.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a nice cardboard box with the USB charging cable, power cable, user manual, charging cradle and carrying bag.

 Things we like

B4M Orb has a very attractive design. It is manufactured in two colors that enable you to match the speaker with any type of furniture in your office or your house. The finish is glossy but not too much so we can say we like it. The LED lights are really amazing, especially when the speaker rotates. Through the mesh on the top, you can see the inside illuminated with the red light.

The speaker seems well built and quite durable. You can use it at home or outside, with the base or without it. In case you want to use the Bluetooth speaker outdoors, you can take the ball. It won’t levitate, but it will definitely add some fun to your free time outside the city. The base can be used for charging other devices with USB charging ports.

The process of establishing magnetic balance in order to make the speaker levitate is not so difficult, but it will require some time in the beginning. However, 4 LED lights are there to help you. You have to center the ball above the base in a way that all the lights stay on. If they are on and you feel the magnetic force, you can let the speaker float because the balance is established.

The sound quality is decent for the price and size of the speaker. It is pleasant and balanced, the mids and the highs are clear enough and the speaker is loud enough to fill small rooms with sound. The battery life is completely satisfying as well as the quality of the Bluetooth connection.

 Things we don’t like

It would be nice if the plastic template was included in the package because it shortens the time spent on making the speaker levitate. Some users had serious problems trying to balance the speaker.

It would be better if the speaker had at least some control buttons, for example volume buttons. This way, you will have to keep your phone next to you all the time because you have to use it for every adjustment you want to make.

If you prefer quality over the design and special effects, keep searching because this speaker definitely looks better than it sounds. It is not bad but you can’t expect such a small speaker to deliver big sound.

5. Nebula – Floating Bluetooth Speaker from Floately

Nebula - Floating Bluetooth Speaker from Floately

Nebula Floating Bluetooth Speaker from Floately is one of the finest Bluetooth speakers which is based on levitation technology. The one main advantage of this Bluetooth speaker is that it comes with an inbuilt sensitive microphone that you can use to make and receive calls with a wireless ease. This is the best home decoration item as it comes with smart features. It can be paired easily with your smartphone or any other device and you can enjoy a crisp and crystal clear wireless sound. It can also be used as a portable speaker when removed from the base. You will definitely like and love when it lights up and levitates as the music plays. The levitating arb is the combination of a powerful speaker and an eye-catching accessory which can also be used as a gift item.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in three different colours, i.e. Black, Silver and Gold. It comes with a USB charging cable, one power cable for base charging and a user manual of course.

6. Infinity Orb Magnetic Levitating Bluetooth

Infinity Orb

Check Price on Amazon

This is the first speaker so far that actually looks different than others and it’s named Infinity Orb magnetic speaker. The ball, the base, everything looks different, quite unusual and attractive. The speaker is not expensive, it supports Bluetooth 4.0 version with 30ft signal range while its battery can last up to 8 hours per charge (at 70% volume). The driver inside the speaker has the total output power of 3W, the speaker dimensions are 8.4×8.2×5.8 inches and its weight is 2.6 pounds. The speaker can be used without the base.

The speaker actually looks like a ball. On top of the ball, you have all the touch-sensitive buttons necessary for controlling the speaker (play/pause, volume controls, light button and the button for answering calls). Below the buttons, you will see the LED indicator light that shows you if the speaker is paired or in the process of pairing. Near the bottom, you will see the metal ring that doesn’t shine but it reflects the light coming from the base. The base has its own charging port at the bottom between the four legs that provide some extra stability on any surface. The base has the LED light ring that flashes all the time while the music is playing.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes with the user manual, USB charging cable and one power cable for charging the base.

 Things we like

This speaker looks rather interesting, especially when the lights are on. With the music playing and all the LED lights shining, you’ll get a really nice light show. In the dark room, it can be pretty amazing.
As far as the build quality is concerned, we are quite satisfied as the speaker seems nicely built and quite durable.

Infinity Orb has good connection quality, decent battery life, and good signal range. The performance is satisfying for the price. The speaker is small so we can't really expect some serious and loud sound.

The ball can be used separately from the base. All you have to do is to charge it and take it with you wherever you go. It won’t be able to levitate, but it will be a great companion and it will be able to play the music.

 Things we don’t like

We don’t like glossy finish on headphones and we don’t like it on speakers either. It is not ugly, but it doesn’t really look sophisticated. It also attracts fingerprints.

The sound quality should be seriously improved. Even at moderate volumes, some problems are noticeable. The biggest one, in our opinion, is that the vocals are muffled at times. If you turn the volume up, the problem gets even bigger.

7. Mars by Crazybaby Levitating Speaker with Subwoofer

Mars by Crazybaby

Check Price on Amazon

Mars by Crazybaby is one of the rare products on our list of 10 best levitating Bluetooth speakers that has a unique design. It comes in black, grey and white colors and it’s not only its design that is unique. Every part of this speaker is unique. It supports Bluetooth 4.0 technology with 30m signal range and AptX audio coding. The levitating part is 4.8inch wide, 1.5inch tall and it weighs almost 13 ounces. The subwoofer is 9.2 inches tall, 6 inches wide and it weighs 54 ounces. The speaker levitates approximately 20mm above the base and it can levitate up to 6 hours per charge, while the battery in the base can last up to 8 hours. Mars speaker is also waterproof as it has the IPX7 rating. The manufacturer has released the app that helps you control the speaker and adjust it to your taste and lifestyle.

As you could have guessed, this speaker system has two parts, the levitating speaker and the base that acts as charging dock and subwoofer. The speaker can be used with the base or without it. The levitating part reminds us of a spaceship. On the top, you will see the mesh covering the driver and in the middle, there is the LED ring light that shines during the entire use. The base is cylindrical. On one side, you will find the small LED indicator light that lets you know if the speaker/base is charging, if it is in pairing mode or paired, while the company’s logo, power on/off button, built-in mic, 4 small LED indicator lights, 2 USB charging ports and one power connector are on the other side.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker system comes in a very big and nicely designed cardboard box that looks really elegant. Inside the box, you will find cylindrical subwoofer and the levitating speaker. Apart from that, you get the power cable as well as the user manual.

 Things we like

This speaker will amaze you the minute you take it out of the box (even the box itself looks premium). It is very elegant and it will fit any stylish and modern apartment or office mostly because of the elegant matte finish. It comes in a variety of neutral colors that can blend into any environment.

The speaker is made from aluminum and it seems quite durable. Although it looks fancy, you can take it anywhere you want (the levitating part) because it is so well-built that it can survive submerging in water of up to 1m (3ft) depth for 30 minutes. This also means that rain or a few splashes of water won’t damage it, so be free to take it outside your house.

Mars L143 can be used in different situations and in different ways. The basic thing is to charge it completely and you are ready to go. As it has the magnet inside its housing, the speaker can be attached to any surface that attracts metal (for example, your bike). When it comes to the base, it has 4,000mAh battery and two charging ports so you can use it as a charging dock for your phone, tablet, etc. Also, the speaker can be used as a speakerphone as it has a built-in mic.

The app you can download on your Android or Apple device is quite good and it makes speaker management process much easier. The app enables you to choose the light pattern on the speaker, to pair two Mars speakers so that one of them acts as the left and the other one as the right channel, to adjust the brightness of the light pattern, etc. The most important thing about the app is that it has the equalizer so you can choose the mode you prefer. In addition, the app helps you control the height of levitation but it also enables you to turn on the auto volume mode. That means the speaker recognizes how far you are from it and plays music louder or quieter depending on the distance between you.

The quality of sound this speaker delivers is good. The bass is present and the mids and the highs are quite distinctive and clear. The speaker looks good and any ordinary customer would be more than happy with the sound. You don’t have to bother about plastic templates as this speaker doesn’t need one. You just turn it on and the system will do everything by itself. When you put the speaker on the base and turn it on, wait for them to connect and establish the magnetic field. After that, the speaker will start levitating without your help. When the battery is below 20%, the speaker will land on the base and start charging.

 Things we don’t like

Mars by Crazybaby is very interesting but quite expensive speaker and we aren’t so sure it is worth this money.

The speaker is not insanely loud, so people who are looking for the loudest speakers on the market should keep looking.

The speaker doesn’t have any control buttons except for the power button. Everything you want to do, you have to do using your phone, tablet, etc.

The sound that you hear when you turn on/off the speaker can be quite annoying for some users. It is very loud, too.

This speaker is also not the best sounding speaker on the market. It really looks better than it performs. Some users think there should be more bass in the sound.

There is no way to charge the speaker in a traditional way (through charging cable) as there are no charging ports on it. It will charge only if it lays on the base. You can stream the music only via Bluetooth – wired connection is not possible (no AUX port).

8. Plox Official Star Wars Levitating Bluetooth Speaker

Plox Star Wars

Check Price on Amazon

Plox levitating Bluetooth speaker is very attractive and relatively inexpensive speaker. Its design is inspired by the Star Wars movie. And not only that. This speaker system was actually designed by some of the biggest Star Wars fans and it is one of the official and licensed Star Wars products. It comes in a silver/gray color only and its dimensions are 8.3×8.3×8.3 inches while it weighs 3 pounds. The speaker has round shape and 5W driver that delivers 360-degree sound because the speaker rotates around its own axis. It supports Bluetooth 4.1 technology with a 33ft signal range. The rechargeable battery can last up to 5 hours per charge.

The speaker is shaped like a ball and it has engraved all the details that had the original Death Star orbital battle station. On the upper side, you will see the mesh covering the driver and at the middle, there are micro USB charging port, power on/off button and the LED indicator light that informs you about the speaker mode (powered on, charging, paired, etc.). The base is rounded and it has soft surface with the Star Wars and Plox logos. On a side, you will find the power connector, power on/off button and one LED indicator. The bottom is covered with rubberized material that keeps the base stable on any surface.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker system comes in a branded Star Wars box with a plastic template, power cable, USB to micro USB charging cable, and user manual.

 Things we like

Plox Death Star speaker has very interesting design that will amaze the true fans of Star Wars movies. The color is nice and it will blend into any environment, no matter what kind of furniture you have. It is relatively small and perfect for smaller apartments, especially because it is not loud enough to fill bigger rooms with sound.

The build quality is decent for the price. We are not very satisfied with the plastic material but we have to admit it seems quite durable and strong. It is not so difficult to make the speaker levitate, especially because you get the template. However, if you don’t like these templates or you don’t want to use them, we are sure you will learn how to establish the magnetic balance in a blink of an eye.

The quality of the Bluetooth connection is satisfying as well as the Bluetooth range. The pairing process is quite simple and fast and the speaker can be easily paired with any Bluetooth-enabled device. The sound is decent and loud enough. Depending on the type of music you listen the sound might get muffled especially if you are listening to some bass-heavy songs.

 Things we don’t like

One of the things that some may consider negative and others just unusual is that fact that the speaker is charged via USB charging cable that you plug into your computer instead the speaker base. So, you will have to charge the speaker and then plug the base into the wall socket in order to make the speaker levitate. This also means the base has to be plugged in all the time.

Truth to be told, the sound quality is not so amazing and there is some distortion at high volumes. Some songs sound pretty distant and muffled, especially rock songs, while some other genres sound much better. Unlike the bases of the previously reviewed speakers, this one can’t be used for charging other devices and it can’t be used for charging the speaker itself.

Also, the battery life should be much better in spite of the fact that the speaker is not very expensive. The speaker is cheaply made and you can feel it while holding the speaker in your hands. That plastic material really doesn’t seem very appealing.

AIR 2 CSBT is one of the cheapest speakers on our list of 10 best levitating Bluetooth speakers. It is also one of those that look different than the majority of presented models. It comes in blue, black, red and pink colors and it looks pretty interesting in all available colors. The speaker supports Bluetooth 4.0 version with 30ft signal range, its battery can last up to 12 hours per single charge, it delivers 360-degree sound thanks to levitating and spinning ability and it has the built-in mic for answering phone calls. The dimensions of the speaker are 7.2×7.5×9 inches and it weighs 8 ounces.

On the top side of the speaker, you will see the acoustic fabric that protects the driver. Below the mesh, you have the control buttons – power on/of, play/pause buttons and volume controls. There is also the micro USB charging port that you use to charge the speaker and the aux port hidden below the rubber flap on the backside of the speaker. The upper part of the base is covered with chrome while the lower part is colored. You will find there only the USB charging port.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a nice cardboard box with the USB to micro USB charging cable, auxiliary cable, user manual, and plastic template.

 Things we like

AIR 2 CSBT is a good-looking speaker that seems very durable, especially if you take into consideration that one of the materials used for building it was chrome. Also, this is one of the rare levitating speakers that actually has built-in control buttons. It is not so advisable to touch these speakers while they are levitating, but it is sometimes easier to adjust the volume by pressing these buttons than reaching for the phone to do the same thing.

The pairing process is fast and easy and the speaker is compatible with all kinds of Bluetooth enabled devices. Bluetooth technology works great and the speaker can be used without the base. The only thing you have to bear in mind is that the base is charged via USB cable that is used for charging the speaker itself. This means that you should charge the base first, then charge the speaker and you are ready for levitating.

In case your phone rings while you’re listening to music, you can take the call through the speaker and use it as a speakerphone. The base doesn’t have to be plugged in all the time, which means that you can put the speaker in different places in your house or apartment depending on the occasion. In addition, if you don’t want or can’t use Bluetooth, the manufacturer provides you with the aux cable that you can use to connect the speaker directly to the source of music.

The sound quality is more than decent considering the price and the size of the speaker. The mids and highs are quite pleasant and distinctive and the loudness of the speaker is satisfying for people with smaller apartments.

 Things we don’t like

Although very interesting, this speaker system is kind of glossy. It comes in a variety of colors but when you look at it, the first thing you notice is the unattractive glossy finish that. The base is made from chrome and that causes problems when the speaker falls on the base because the contact between them creates scratches every single time.

The speaker has only one driver, so don’t expect mind-blowing sound coming out of it. It is loud enough to fill a smaller room but nothing larger that. Also, the sound quality could be better, clearer and there could be less distortion at high volumes.

The base is oddly shaped and we get the impression that the magnet inside of it is not as large as it should be. Also, the top of the base is not flat. It is shorter than the lower part and we think this might be the reason why it is so difficult to establish magnetic balance without the template.

The pairing process is fast and easy and you have all the necessary control buttons on the speaker which make the controlling process much easier. If you play the music from your SD card, you don’t even have to take out your phone. When the speaker levitates, it also rotates, which means it delivers 360-degree sound so the songs should sound the same no matter where you are standing.

 Things we don’t like

Considering the price, this speaker should have much longer battery life because 3 hours are definitely not enough. 3 hours are way below the average for this price range and this type of speaker. When it comes to Bluetooth speakers of any kind, battery durability is one of the essential things and this speaker doesn’t offer satisfying battery life.

The sound quality is good for the price and size of this speaker. Otherwise, it could be better. There should definitely be more bass and the sound at high volumes should be clearer and less distorted.

Things to Consider Before Buying Levitating Bluetooth Speaker

Whenever you’re buying some piece of audio equipment, you should try to consider all the available options and go for the best one. This is especially important when you’re buying devices that you intend to use for a few years at least and levitating Bluetooth speakers belong to this group. They are still relatively new on the market, the technology and the speakers themselves are still being improved. This is why you should be careful and methodical when buying them. Here’s the list of things you should consider before making the purchase.

Price

When there is something new available on the market, it is always slightly more expensive than the older products the customers are familiar with. The same rule can be applied to the production and sale of these speakers. Our list of best levitating Bluetooth speakers is made mostly of reasonably priced speakers. However, they are still more expensive than many older Bluetooth speakers that don’t levitate. Before buying some levitating speaker, think carefully if you really need it and how much money you can or want to spend on this technology.

Purpose

Well, we can’t really say that these speakers have any function that makes them more useful than regular Bluetooth speakers. Their most important function is to amaze and entertain or simply make the living or working space more interesting. If you find the looks equally or even more important than the sound and build quality, these speakers might be the right thing for you.

Design

Levitating speakers are designed in a different way than regular Bluetooth speakers. You have the ones that look like orbits, the others look like planets, while some are egg-shaped. The part that comes in many more versions and shapes is the speaker base. You can choose between small and thin as well as high ones. Depending on the color and the type of furniture in your house or office, you should try to get the speaker that fits your living or working ambient the most.

Build quality

Whenever you’re buying something, you are trying to invest your money in the best possible way. It’s the same when you are purchasing levitating speakers. You should make sure that you’re buying the speaker that is made from quality and durable material that ensures longevity.

Sound quality and loudness

Sound quality should be one of the most important characteristics of any speaker and you should definitely try to find out how good is the sound that some speaker delivers before making the purchase. You should try it out in some store or simply watch some video reviews in order to figure out if the sound quality is satisfying for you. You should also pay attention to the wattage because it tells you how powerful your speaker is and how loud is the sound that the speaker delivers.

Portability

When you’re buying Bluetooth speaker of any kind, the assumption is that you’re buying it because you don’t want it to be connected to a wall socket all the time. Levitating or not, Bluetooth speaker should be portable. They are usually portable but we have to admit that the best way to use the levitating speaker outside your house or office is to take only the upper part. The levitating part can work perfectly fine without the base but it won’t levitate. If you really want to transport both parts, pick some of the smaller products with smaller bases that will occupy less space in your bag.

Battery life

Battery life is one of the crucial reasons for or against buying Bluetooth speakers. Excellent sound quality and great durability won’t be that great if the battery life doesn’t match the performance. If you choose a speaker with a long battery life, you will be able to enjoy your free time without thinking about charging the speaker.

Additional features

The additional features may seem unnecessary for some of you but these small things can really improve the impression about any device. If you can buy the speaker that plays music from USB or SD card and pay the same amount of money that you would pay for some other speaker without these features, the only logical thing is to buy the one with more features as these things make your life easier and more interesting.

One of the features that are important for the physical appearance of the speaker are the LED lights. They are particularly beautiful when they are synced with the music you are playing. Sometimes, they shine in many colors, while some of the speakers have LED lights in one color only. Either way, the speakers with LED lights look better than the those without LED lights.
