So, why do we need CD players in the era of the Internet, gadgets, and other modern devices that save space, time, and money? The answer is quite simple, actually – because of the audio quality.

The List of 6 Best Onkyo CD Players in 2024
1. Best Overall: Onkyo DX-C390
Things we like
Onkyo DX-C390 is a simple and good-looking CD player made from durable brushed aluminum. It comes in black color and has a large display on the front. Thanks to its elegant design, it can fit nicely any type of house or apartment.
The player allows you to insert up to 6 different discs and switch between them easily and quickly with the help of built-in control buttons on the device itself. You can also use the provided remote control. The only thing you’ll need is an RCA cable and a pair of AA batteries and the party can start. The 40-track programming and 6 different repeat modes won’t allow you to get bored for a long time.
DX-C390 supports PCM, audio CDs, and MP3 file formats as well as the following types of discs: Audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and CD-Extra. In case you need to change a disc, you can open the CD compartment that works on a carousel principle and change up to 5 discs while the 6th one is still playing.
Thanks to the amazing AccuPulse Quartz System and Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry technologies, Onkyo DX-C390 is able to virtually eliminate stray pulse noise and jitter induced by vibrations. This leads to better and tighter bass reproduction, better stereo imaging, and generally more pleasing and cleaner sound from all types of CDs.
Things we don’t like
The only complaints we have are related to the size and weight of the player. We can’t say that it’s huge but it’s also not compact (17-1/8 x 5-3/16 x 17 inches). Also, it’s kind of hefty (15lbs) so it’s not the most portable CD player out there.
2. Best Under $500: Onkyo C7030
Things we like
The next product on our list of 6 best Onkyo CD players in 2024 isn’t really the cheapest but it’s definitely worth the money. It comes in black and silver colors. We have reviewed the silver version because it looks more elegant and attractive.
On the front side, you’ll see a set of control buttons enabling you to power the device on and off, insert and eject CD, manage playback, volume, skip tracks, and adjust the display. The device also gives you the possibility to connect your headphones without using any additional receivers or amps. If you look at the rear panel, you’ll find both analog and digital output ports. The device comes with its remote control that enables you to control the playback without getting up.
Onkyo C7030 plays a standard CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, or WMA CD. It supports the amazing Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry technology that reduces unwanted resonance and vibrations to the very minimum. Thanks to this, the player is able to deliver amazingly clear and powerful sound, minimizing pulse noise and timing errors at the same time.
Things we don’t like
Similar to the previously described model, Onkyo C7030 isn’t very compact (17-1/8 x 4 x 12-3/64 inches) or light (11.7Ib). Also, it’s a single-disc player, which means that you’ll be able to insert only one CD at a time. Compared to the DX-C390, which has 6-CD compartment, this is a great difference. However, the player still manages to maintain such a high price thanks to its quality audio reproduction.
3. Onkyo DX-C380
Things we like
Onkyo DX-C380 has a very similar design to the previously reviewed DX-C390. The truth is we consider the design of C380 a bit more neutral and basic but it’s still attractive and can easily fit different interiors. It comes in black and silver colors.
On the front side, you’ll find a big display that enables navigation through the settings. The display shows the current track, mode, or disc selection. Around the display, you'll see many control buttons allowing you to power the device on and off, switch between 6 discs that can be inserted into the CD compartment at the same time, skip tracks, switch between several playing modes, etc.
DX-C380 connects via RCA cable and it comes with a remote, so you don’t have to use the buttons on the device.
The CD player supports some very important technologies that make the use interesting and the audio reproduction more pleasing. First, there’s the 6-CD compartment utilizing the carousel working principle. This basically means that you can insert 6 CDs at once and switch between them or change up to 5 of them without disrupting the playback. Second, it uses the Pulse Width Modulation technology that minimizes the low-level linearity errors and eliminates detail loss. Also, we mustn’t forget about the AccuPulse Quartz technology that eliminates timing errors. As a result, you get perfectly clear powerful audio with a lot of detail.
Things we don’t like
Unfortunately, DX-C380 doesn’t read anything but standard audio CD format, so you won’t be able to rip CDs or play MP3 files.
Plus, this model is also relatively big (17-1/8 x 5-3/16 x 17-1/16 inches) with a serious weight of 15.2Ibs.
4. Best CD/DVD Onkyo Player – Onkyo DV-CP702
Things we like
Onkyo DV-CP702 is an amazing CD/DVD player. It has a simple but attractive design and it comes in black and silver colors. On the front side, you’ll see a display and a set of control buttons. You can use these buttons or the provided remote control to turn the device on/off or put it on standby, adjust the display brightness, manage playback, switch between discs and modes, skip tracks, etc. On the rear panel, you’ll find a video output, analog and digital audio outputs, as well as remote-control output.
The player supports Dolby Digital and DTS, and it plays different disc formats such as DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, Video CD, Audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and even JPEG CD. This means that you’ll be able to play MP3 and WMA as well as regular audio and video file formats.
Thanks to the CD compartment that can store up to 6 discs and works on the carousel principle, you can insert 6 different CD/DVD discs and switch between them. Also, you can change the other five discs while the last one's still playing.
In terms of audio reproduction, we must say we are very pleased with the way this player sounds. It uses a special Direct Digital Path that transfers the digital signal from a disc and sends it to the digital outputs, creating a noise-free signal and delivering perfectly clear audio.
Things we don’t like
Similar to the previously described models, DV-CP702 isn’t very compact (17-1/8 x 3-9/16 x 17 inches) or very light (11.7Ib). However, considering all the features, performance quality, and price, we must say it’s more than worth buying.
5. Onkyo DX-C110
Things we like
DX-C110 is another Onkyo carousel CD player and changer that allows you to insert up to 6 different CDs and play any of them in any order you like. It comes in black color and it looks rather simple with a set of basic controls that are commonly found on Onkyo CD players.
On the front side, you’ll see a big display showing the numbers of tracks and discs that are currently playing. Apart from the display, there are also the on/off button, as well as a set of buttons enabling you to adjust the display appearance, manage playback, skip tracks, switch between normal, random, and repeat playback modes, etc.
If you don’t like to get up from your comfy chair to change a song, you’ll be happy to hear that the player comes with a remote that enables you to adjust all the previously mentioned settings without getting up. The only thing you’ll have to provide is a pair of AA batteries that aren’t included in the package.
DX-C110 connects via RCA cable and it uses AccuPulse Quartz System that eliminates timing errors. Thanks to the technologies used, this CD player also delivers very pleasing, powerful, and amazingly clear sound.
Things we don’t like
Onkyo DX-C110 is an absolute champion in terms of dimensions (17-15/16 x 4-3/4 x 16-13/16 inches) and weight (16.9Ib). It’s not exactly the lightest and the most portable player on the market.
In addition, it doesn’t support any disc formats except for the CD-R and CD-RW but it deserves a place on our list because of its amazing sonic performance.
6. Onkyo C340
Things we like
The last product on our list of 6 best Onkyo CD players in 2024 is a model called DX-C340. It’s also a 6-disc carousel changer that combines simple and attractive black or silver design with many user-friendly functions.
On the front side, there’s a display showing the time, track number, disc number, etc. On the left end, you’ll find the power button, next selection button, display adjustment button, memory, and clear buttons. On the opposite side, there are the open/close, disc skip, play/pause button, stop button, 6 CD-select buttons, fast forward/backward buttons, and two buttons that enable you to activate random and repeat playback modes.

On the rear side, you will find the RCA connector.
The player supports special technology that makes it vibration-resistant and it uses AccuPulse Quartz System that eliminates timing errors. All these features, along with the possibility to insert 6 discs at once and replace up to 5 of them without stopping the playback, create an amazing user experience and enable you to enjoy a perfectly clear and powerful sound.
Things we don’t like
The fact is Onkyo DX-C340 is an amazing player. However, we’d like it to be a bit less heavy (15Ib) and smaller (17-1/8 x 5-3/16 x 17-1/16 inches). Also, the number of supported audio file formats is not the most impressive thing about it.
