Looking for a rugged, durable, and great-sounding outdoor Bluetooth speaker for your garden, backyard, or patio? Some nice-looking Bluetooth rock speakers could be the perfect solution for your needs. Our article on 7 best outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers in 2024 is here to answer all the questions you may have about rock speakers and to present to you the best speakers in this class.
There are a few reasons why outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers are great for your backyard or garden? For starters, there’s the design. Thanks to their look, these speakers can blend into any outdoor environment.
Furthermore, there’s the durability and ruggedness. Bluetooth rock speakers are made with outdoor conditions in mind and are perfectly capable of withstanding all kinds of weather conditions – rain showers, snow, extreme temperature changes, etc. The speakers are often shock-proof, too.
This specific type of speaker also features Bluetooth connectivity, which is a very convenient way of playing music – it’s much easier than connecting the speakers to your audio source or a stereo amp located inside your home. In some cases, Bluetooth rock speakers also have internal rechargeable batteries so they don’t have to be plugged in all the time. Some even have solar panels so you don’t have to charge the batteries at all.
As you can see, there are many reasons why you should buy an outdoor Bluetooth rock speaker. You just need to find the right one for your needs. And we are here to help you.
Outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers vary in size, power-output, durability, and price. We’ve tested numerous models, analyzed their advantages and disadvantages, and made the following list of 7 best outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers. Hopefully, you’ll find something that suits your needs. These are our top picks.
7 Best Outdoor Bluetooth Rock Speakers in 2024
1. Best Solar-Powered Bluetooth Rock Speaker – Alpine Corporation
Alpine Corporation is a company that makes all kinds of equipment for gardens, patios, and backyards. Some of their most popular products are garden furniture, fountains, lighting, and, of course, outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers. This specific speaker we want to talk about is solar-powered, has a built-in battery, and doesn’t require an external power supply. It’s one of the best wireless solutions for your backyard.
What’s in the box?
Unlike some other rock speakers, Alpine Corporation solar-powered speakers don’t come in pairs. Inside the box, you will find one speaker, a micro USB charging cable, manual, and 1-year warranty.
Things we like
The speaker has a nice life-like rock design. You can choose between two colors – grey and brown. The cabinet (and the grille) is made of durable resin. The speaker is light, waterproof, and weather resistant. The dimensions are 13in x 9in x 11in.
Inside the speaker, behind that resin grille, there's one 4in full-range woofer. On the top, there's a solar panel for charging. On the back, you have one micro USB input (for wired charging), two LEDs (charging and Bluetooth indicators), and the power button. All the inputs/controls are covered with a rubber flap.
The battery inside the speaker delivers 12 hours of playtime at moderate volumes. Depending on the charging method (micro USB cable or solar panel), it takes 4-8 hours to fully charge the battery.
The speaker features Bluetooth 4.0. The moment you turn it on, it’s in pairing mode. The connection is stable and reliable within the 50ft range. If there are no obstacles between the speaker and your phone, the range extends over 50ft.
The sound is weak and lacks some serious impact. The midrange is fairly dynamic and accurate, with clear vocals. The treble reproduction is not very detailed.
Things we don’t like
The speaker doesn’t support multipoint pairing or stereo playback. Even if you buy two and try to connect them to your phone, you won’t get stereo sound, only dual mono.
Even though the speaker looks and feels very durable and has a rubber flap protecting the inputs, it’s still not IPX certified. The manufacturer claims it’s waterproof but there’s no IPX rating to confirm that. We didn’t test the waterproofness, but it doesn’t look like a fully waterproof device. It’s splash-proof or water-resistant at best.
2. Best-Sounding Bluetooth Rock Speaker Set – Sound Appeal Free Rock Outdoor Speaker
Sound Appeal is not a well-known audio manufacturer but, regardless of that, we liked their speakers' performance and looks.
What’s in the box?
The speakers come in pairs (master and slave speaker). The packaging also includes an AC adapter (for connecting the master speaker to the power supply) a speaker cable (for connecting the slave speaker to the master speaker), a short manual, and a 1-year warranty.
Things we like
The speakers are available in two colors canyon-sandstone and grey-slate. Both look like real rocks and are perfectly capable of blending into all kinds of landscapes. Both speakers have weather-resistant grilles. On the back of the main speaker, there’s the AC input, speaker terminal (for connecting the slave speaker), an LED Bluetooth indicator, and a power switch. The other speaker has only one speaker terminal.
The cabinet is made of multilayer polymer and it’s designed to withstand all kinds of weather, including very high and very low temperatures, as well as UV radiation.
The drivers inside the speakers are weather-resistant. Each speaker houses one 6.5in polypropylene woofer and one 1in PEI tweeter. The RMS power output per channel is rated at 20W (40W in total). The sensitivity is rated at 89dB.
The info about the Bluetooth version is a little bit confusing – the product description says Bluetooth 3.0, while the manual says it’s 2.1. Anyway, the pairing is fast and painless, and the connection is stable within the 30-40ft range (the manufacturer claims it’s up to 100ft).
Sonic performance is probably the biggest highlight, along with durability. For the size, the speakers deliver a decent amount of bass. The mids are dynamic, the vocals are clear, and the treble reproduction is smooth, without any brightness or harshness.
Things we don’t like
The speakers feature either Bluetooth 2.1 or 3.0. Both of these versions are quite outdated and you can’t find them on many speakers or headphones. Regardless of the version, the speakers deliver average wireless performance with a standard Bluetooth range. The manufacturer claims that you can get up to 100ft but that’s an exaggeration (30-40ft is more realistic).
The speakers do feel durable and rugged, but they lack the IPX rating.
Considering all the downsides, features, and overall performance, we think that Sound Appeal speaker set is a bit overpriced.
3. Best Stereo Solar-Powered Speaker Set – Innovative Technology ITSBO-513PS5
ITSBO-513 is another solar-powered speaker but, unlike the previous Alpine Corporation speaker, this one can play audio in stereo and is IPX4-certified.
What’s in the box?
Inside a simple cardboard box, you will find two speakers, a micro USB cable with a power adapter, manual, and 1-year warranty.
Things we like
The speakers feature a realistic rock texture. The cabinets feel rugged and durable. The drivers are protected with an aluminum grille. On the right side of each speaker, there’s a rubber cover protecting the power button, LED indicators (for charging and Bluetooth), reset pinhole, and a micro USB charging port. On the top, there’s a small solar panel for charging.
The speakers are IPX4-certified. The IPX4 rating means they are splash-proof, not fully waterproof.
The built-in battery has 4,400mAh capacity. At moderate volumes, it will deliver up to 50h of playtime (up to 10h at full blast). The recharge time varies depending on the method – it takes 6 hours to fully recharge the battery via micro USB cable. Charging via solar panel may take up to 15 hours (depending on the sunlight intensity and exposure).
The manufacturer didn’t offer any info on the Bluetooth version but we can tell you that it works as advertised. The pairing is simple – you have to turn on both speakers, give them some time to pair with each other, and then pair them with your phone. The range is above average (more than the advertised 30ft).
The sound quality is decent, considering the size and power output (5W per channel). The bass is weak and lacks any real impact, but the mids and highs are detailed, smooth, and nicely balanced.
Things we don’t like
Due to its size and power output, this speaker set is not a good option for covering larger areas.
4. Best Rock Speaker with a Sensor Light – HAVEONE Solar -Powered Bluetooth Speaker
HAVEONE makes all kinds of speakers that look like something else – rock speakers, camera speakers, TV speakers (not speakers for TV but speakers that look like the old-school TVs). In this review, we are analyzing HAVEONE’s outdoor Bluetooth rock speaker with a sensor light.
What’s in the box?
Inside the box, you will find only one speaker (not a speaker set), micro USB charging cable, manual, and a warranty card.
Things we like
Like all the previous speakers, HAVEONE looks like a rock. However, this one has a bit more regular shape and smoother surface than others. Also, the color of the grilles doesn’t match the color of the speaker which makes it a bit more visible. The speaker still blends in nicely into different environments and still looks nice.
On the front side, you have a tiny driver, protected with a metal grille. Right above the driver, there’s a movement/darkness sensor and, right next to the sensor, there’s a small light. On the top, you will see the solar panel and, on the back, you have a micro USB charging port, power button, and an LED pairing/charging indicator.
The speaker is made of resin and feels quite durable. The manufacturer claims that it’s weather-resistant (not fully waterproof).
HAVEONE solar-powered speaker features Bluetooth 5.0. The pairing process is fast and the connection is stable within the 50ft range.
The built-in battery has a capacity of 2,000mAh and can deliver up to 8 hours of playback per one charge. Depending on the charging method and sunlight exposure, you will need at least 5h to fully charge the battery (via USB cable and 5V/1A DC adapter). It takes 10-12 hours to charge it via the solar panel.
One thing that makes this speaker different from all the previous ones, is the movement/darkness sensor. It works as advertised and it provides you with nice discrete lighting.
The sound is mid-centric. The bass reproduction is weak and unimpressive. The mids and highs are dynamic and clear.
Things we don’t like
HAVEONE speaker comes as a single speaker and you can’t pair two to get stereo sound.
The driver inside the speaker is quite small and it’s not powerful enough to cover large areas. It’s a nice solution for smaller patios and backyards.
HAVEONE is supposed to be weather and water-resistant but there’s no official IPX rating to confirm that.
5. The Loudest Outdoor Bluetooth Rock Speaker – SANGYEEBOOM Outdoor Rock Speakers
Along with Sound Appeal speakers and OSD speakers, SANGYEBOOM is the most expensive speaker set on this list. What we liked about it the most are the durability and loudness. One thing we didn’t like is the price.
What’s in the box?
Inside a sturdy cardboard box, you will find two speakers (master and slave speaker), DC power adapter, remote, speaker wire, user manual, and 1-year warranty.
Things we like
The speaker has a nice, life-like, rocky shape. It's available in granite grey color only. On the front, you have an upward-firing driver, protected with a nice weather-resistant grille. On the bottom of the master speaker, you have a DC power input and a speaker terminal for connecting the other speaker. The slave speaker has only speaker terminals.
The cabinets are made of multilayered plastic reinforced with glass fiber. It feels pretty durable. The speakers are IP44-certified. The power adapter and the cables are IP68-certified.
Each SANGYEBOOM speaker houses one 6.5in woofer and one 1in tweeter. The drivers are also made of durable materials and are weather-resistant. The advertised power output per channel is 60W (120W is the total peak power output) and the sensitivity is 93dB.
The speakers feature Bluetooth 5.0 with a 50ft range and stable wireless connection.
An additional feature we haven’t seen on other rock speakers is the spotlight mode. The speakers are discretely backlit and you can turn the lights on/off with the remote.
SANGYEBOOM rock speakers are very loud. Thanks to their 6in cone woofer, they deliver nice and punchy bass. The mids are dynamic and accurate and the vocals are clear. The treble is a little bit brighter.
Things we don’t like
Considering all the features and the performance, we still think that SANGYEBOOM speakers are slightly overpriced.
The speakers are not fully wireless – the master speaker has to be plugged in (it’s not battery-operated) and the slave speaker has to be connected to the master speaker.
6. The Most Life-Like Bluetooth Rock Speaker – AtmosFX SonicStone
Of all the outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers, AtmosFX SonicStone is the most life-like. It’s also the speaker with the longest-lasting battery and one of the rare Bluetooth rock speakers with an AUX input.
What’s in the box?
Inside the cardboard box, you will find your AtmosFX SonicStone single speaker (not a pair), audio cable (for wired connection with the audio source), AC power adapter for charging, manual, and 1-year warranty.
Things we like
We really liked the design. It’s similar to other speakers on the list, but still very distinctive and more life-like than others. The manufacturer made the grilles really well and managed to perfectly match the color of the grille to the color of the stone. All the controls are inputs are on the bottom – the speaker features a 3.5mm AUX input, power/charging input, and volume controls.
The speaker is quite hefty. It feels very premium and very durable. The enclosure is IP66-certified, which makes it one of the most durable outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers on the market.
SonicStone features Bluetooth 4.0. The pairing is fast and simple, and the connection is reliable within the standard Bluetooth range (25-30ft).
Inside the speaker, there’s a large 7,200mAh rechargeable battery. At moderate volumes, you’ll get up to 18h of playtime. That’s more than what you get with any other speaker of this type.
The speaker houses a single 30W driver. The bass is punchy and pleasant, the midrange is clear, and the highs are consistent. You can hardly get better performance at this price point (under $90).
Things we don’t like
One thing we didn’t like is that SonicStone can’t play audio in stereo. If you buy two and pair them with your phone, you will only get dual mono sound.
7. The Best Bass Performance – OSD Audio BTR805
OSD Audio BTR805 speakers have the largest drivers of all the Bluetooth rock speakers and, naturally, they produce the deepest and most powerful bass. They also look very life-like and are very loud.
What’s in the box?
The box contains two BTR805 rock speakers, power adapter, speaker wire (for connecting the master speaker with the slave speaker), user manual, and 1-year warranty.
Things we like
The speakers have quite a nice appearance. Very rock-like. Even the color of the grille is perfectly matched to the color of the speaker. It blends perfectly into any landscape. The speakers are hefty, rugged, and feel durable. The manufacturer claims they are weather-resistant, while the power adapter is IP67-certified (fully waterproof).
Inside the speaker, there is one 8in cone woofer made of polypropylene and one 1in soft dome tweeter. The combined peak power output is rated at 150W.
Recommended Reading :
The master speaker has a built-in class-D amplifier and a Bluetooth receiver. The speaker features Bluetooth 3.0. Wireless connection delivers decent performance with a standard Bluetooth range. The pairing is simple and fast.
The sound is quite loud and powerful. The bass is deep, punchy, and nicely textured. It’s also slightly elevated. The midrange reproduction is dynamic but also slightly muddied, especially if bass-heavy songs are played. The highs are clear, consistent, and very energetic.
Things we don’t like
The power adapter is IP67-certified, but the speakers don’t have any IP rating. The manufacturer claims they are weather-resistant, but having an actual IP rating would’ve been more reassuring.
BTR805 features Bluetooth 3.0, which is a bit outdated. Upgrading the Bluetooth receiver would make this speaker set even better.

FAQs
Q: What are the best outdoor rock speakers to buy?
A: The market doesn’t really have a lot to offer when it comes to outdoor rock speakers, especially those with Bluetooth connectivity. We were able to find some 20 models. The number of viable options is quite limited. Our favorite brands are Sound Appeal, Innovative Technologies, and Alpine Corporation. OSD Audio, AtmosFX, and SANGYEBOOM speakers are also pretty good. You can find all these brands on our list of 7 best outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers in 2024.
Q: What is the best Bluetooth speaker for outdoors?
A: If you are looking for any kind of outdoor Bluetooth speaker, you should probably go for something more portable and better-sounding than a rock speaker. You can buy a regular portable Bluetooth speaker for your backyard or go for architectural Bluetooth speakers for your patio. The thing is – most rock Bluetooth speakers are made by less known manufacturers (those without any serious reputation). Klipsch is one of the rare exceptions when it comes to rock speakers but they don’t make Bluetooth-enabled rock speakers. Architectural and portable Bluetooth speaker market is so much more diverse and almost every known player in the audio industry has something to offer. So, if you decide to buy an architectural Bluetooth speaker, you can choose between Klipsch, SONOS, Yamaha, Sony, JBL, Martin Logan, Paradigm, etc.
If you still want an outdoor Bluetooth rock speaker, you have our selection of 7 best outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers. Almost every Bluetooth-enabled rock speaker that’s worth mentioning is already on this list so you don’t have to look elsewhere.
Q: How many watts do I need for outdoor speakers?
A: The necessary wattage and overall loudness depend on the space you want to cover with sound and on your personal taste (and needs). If you just want some nice background music, then you don't need extremely powerful speakers. A pair of 50-60W speakers is good enough for 250-300ft2 (small backyard or a larger patio). For larger areas, you need larger and more powerful speakers – 100Wx2 would be ideal for 500ft2 and 150Wx2 for 700ft2. If you want to throw a party and need something really loud, Bluetooth rock speakers are not really a great option. You should probably go for something much larger.
Q: How do I choose an outdoor Bluetooth rock speaker?
A: Whenever buying an outdoor Bluetooth speaker (regardless of the type), the list of things you’re looking for is pretty much the same. So, you will be looking for the price that fits your budget and the design that blends into your surroundings. You should also check the Bluetooth connection details (version, range, reliability), other connection options (AUX, RCA), and you should test the sound quality if you have the chance.
There are also a few things and features that are very important when it comes to this specific speaker type. The most important is probably the durability and ruggedness of the speaker. Since you are going to use it outdoors, the speaker has to be weather/water-resistant. It must be able to withstand all kinds of weather conditions including rain, snow, extreme temperature changes, etc. It should also be resistant to dust.
Another important thing is the power supply. Some outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers have to be plugged in (need an external power supply). Others are battery-operated. Some even have solar panels for charging so you don’t have to think about charging the battery.
Q: How do I make my wired outdoor speakers Bluetooth?
A: You can try using some kind of Bluetooth receiver or transceiver. But, in order to use it, you will need a speaker with a standard 3.5mm input (the receiver has to be plugged into that speaker). The most convenient option is buying a battery-operated Bluetooth receiver.
Q: Do outdoor speakers need to be covered?
A: Outdoor speakers are made with outdoor conditions and different weather conditions in mind. They are supposed to be weather and water-resistant. Also, they are supposed to be dust-resistant and able to withstand temperature changes. Covering the speakers (when not in use) is not absolutely necessary but it’s still recommended since it provides additional protection and prolongs the lifespan of the speaker.
Q: What can I do to protect my speakers during winter?
A: As discussed in the previous answer, outdoor Bluetooth rock speakers are already quite rugged but some additional protection during winter, especially if the temperatures go below zero, is definitely recommended. You can try covering the speakers with some water-resistant material or you can even bring the speakers inside if it’s not a huge hassle.
