We all sing in the shower and that’s not a shame. In fact, it’s more common than you might think.  For some people, singing in the shower is an important part of their showering routine, others do it occasionally but we all sing. In the shower, you can be a star and it doesn’t matter if you have a voice of an angel or if you are terrible at singing.

It doesn’t get better, right? Well, it can actually get much better. You can bring the music with you in the shower. Bringing your phone in the bathroom is obviously unacceptable (unless you have a waterproof phone) but for a reasonable amount of money, you can buy some of those waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers and get a nice music support that’s going to put a smile on your face. Spicing up your shower with a little bit of music can be truly invigorating and relaxing and that’s why you should consider buying a small waterproof shower speaker.

Waterproof Bluetooth Shower Speaker

Our article on 15 best waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers in 2024 is here to help you make a decision. We are going to explain all the important things about waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers, discuss differences between regular and shower speakers, tell you how they work, discuss prices, and give you some hints on what to pay attention to when buying a shower speaker. As you may have guessed, we are going to put an emphasis on two keywords – waterproof and Bluetooth.

We have also made a selection of 15 best waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers, so you don't have to look elsewhere and ask for a suggestion. You can find everything in one place – right here.

What’s the Difference Between Regular and Shower Speakers?

There are two really important differences between regular and shower speakers and they are both pretty much obvious. First of all, shower speakers have to be wireless. You already know that electricity and water don’t go well together and you mustn’t mix them if you care for your life. That’s why the cables are out of the question and they have to be wireless (usually Bluetooth). Wireless speakers use batteries which means that you can still get electrocuted (or suffer some kind of minor injury caused by an electric shock) and that’s why there’s another difference between shower speakers and regular speakers. Shower speakers have to be waterproof or at least water resistant. Batteries and all the other electrical parts of a shower speaker must not come in contact with water and that’s why shower speakers must have some kind of IPX waterproof rating (at least IPX4 but preferably IPX7).

These two differences will narrow the list of possible choices down a little bit but there is still plenty of different speakers on the market that comply with these two conditions. There are some popular and quite expensive waterproof Bluetooth speakers made by JBL (Clip, Charge, Pulse, Flip), SONY (SRS series) or UE (BLAST, MEGABLAST, BOOM, MEGABOOM, WONDERBOOM, etc.). There are also some cheaper speakers made by APIE, Anker, AOMAIS, and other generic brands. All these speakers can be used as shower speakers but we have decided to introduce some additional parameters in order to narrow the number of possible choices down even more.

First of all, you should consider the purpose, and along with purpose come a few more parameters like price, size, sound quality, and battery durability. Do you need a multipurpose speaker that you are going to use outdoors, too? If that’s the case, you will need something bigger with better sound quality, stronger battery, more rugged, and of course, more expensive. That kind of speaker can definitely be used as a shower speaker but there’s the size issue. If you have a small bathroom with a small shower cabin or a bathtub, there will be not enough space to put or hang the speaker. If that’s not a problem for you, you should take a look at our list of 15 Best Wireless Outdoor Speakers In 2024 and look for those with IPX4, IPX5, IPX6 or IPX7 rating. If you are looking for something smaller with a decent sound quality and battery life, and if you are going to use it only in your bathroom, there are many cheaper choices. We have decided to go that way.

Our list of 15 best waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers in 2024 contains 15 really nice and relatively affordable (or even cheap) waterproof Bluetooth speakers that are specially designed to be used in the shower. Most of them come with a suction cup so you can stick them to your shower wall, glass or to your bathtub. Others have rubberized loops or metal carabiners and can be hanged somewhere in the bathroom (you can use shower curtain rods, shower or bathtub caddies, etc. to hang them). Even if they don’t come with a suction cup or a loop, they are small enough to fit your bathtub rim or you can put them on a caddy.

The Working Principle

Waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers work in the same way as any other waterproof Bluetooth speaker. They use the Bluetooth connection to receive the signal from your phone or any other Bluetooth-enabled device paired with the speaker, turn that digital signal into analog, and output audio. Their battery and drivers are protected with some kind of water-resistant or preferably waterproof fabric or silicone which makes it possible for you to use the speaker in the shower. Just hang it or stick it to your bathroom wall, pair it with your Bluetooth-enabled device, start the playback, and take a shower. Some Bluetooth shower speakers have more than one mode and you can use them to listen to FM radio, play the music from your SD card, answer calls, etc.

Expensive or Affordable (Cheap) Shower Speakers?

Well, we’ve made our choice already. And yours depends on your needs and on the intended purpose. If you need one speaker that can be used outdoors but also as a shower speaker, you should spend more and buy a stronger, bigger, and more expensive speaker (preferably, some of those we’ve mentioned earlier). If you are going to use it in the shower only, you can buy some less powerful and smaller speaker with a shorter battery life and pay less. We think the second option is much better but not only because it’s cheaper.

Here’s the deal – the fact that some speaker is waterproof, doesn’t necessarily means that it is temperature resistant. Shure, it will survive a few showers, it could work fine for a year but if you pay $100 or $200 for some really great Bluetooth waterproof speaker, you want it to last for more than a year. That’s why it’s better to have some cheaper waterproof Bluetooth speaker that you are going to use in the shower and prolong the life of your other, more expensive high-end waterproof Bluetooth speaker as much as possible. So, even if you are planning to buy some nice and large JBL, SONY or UE waterproof Bluetooth speaker, our advice to you is to think about buying another cheaper waterproof Bluetooth speaker that you are going to use in the shower. Even if it breaks, it won’t hurt that much since it was much cheaper.

This is our list of 15 best waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers in 2024.

1. iFox iF012 Bluetooth Shower Speaker

 iFox iF012

Check Price on Amazon

iFox is a small Irish audio manufacturer. They make portable Bluetooth speakers and Bluetooth headphones. The first product on our list is one of the iFox’s most popular speakers – iF012 Bluetooth shower speaker. It’s a really small waterproof speaker with a suction cup that can be used indoors or outdoors. You can use it in your car, take it to the pool or to the beach, and of course, you can use it in the shower.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a nice little box. Along with the speaker, you will get a suction cup, proprietary USB charging cable (it’s 3.5mm to USB cable which is kind of odd since the most of the speakers use micro USB to USB charging cable), user manual, and 1-year warranty card.

The speaker is cylindrical with a 3.35 inches base diameter and 2.56 inches depth. It weighs only 1.92 ounces. Inside the speaker, there is one 3W driver.

 Things we like

The speaker looks really nice and stylish. The only available color is black. You have a nice matte finish with golden details and iFox logo on the side. It really looks sleek and there is nothing we would like to change regarding the design. This is a big plus for iFox.

When it comes to durability, we were satisfied but not completely. The housing is made of ABS and it’s firm but it’s not rugged enough. It’s not like it can’t survive a few falls but the thing is that suction cup weakens over time and in a few months or in a year, it will lose the ability to stick firmly to the wall (or glass), it will fall off more often and we are not sure if it can survive that. So, it’s probably smart to try not to stick it again and again if it starts to fall off. Find some other place for the speaker – put it on a caddy or something like that.

The speaker features 5 control buttons arranged in a circle. The controls are on the top (or front side, depending on the orientation) side of the speaker. You have a power button (also pairing button), Forward/Volume Up button, Rewind/Volume Down button, call button, and Play/Pause/Stop button in the middle. There’s the LED indicator between power and Rewind/Volume Down button (it blinks rapidly in pairing mode, steady blue light when the speaker is paired). Beneath the call button, there’s a small built-in mic. We are happy with the button arrangement but not with their functionality, especially when it comes to those two volume/track management buttons (we are going to talk about this issue in the next section). The control buttons are responsive.

We’ve tested that older version and you can expect this newer version to be even better. The version pairs in a few seconds. The pairing process starts when you turn on the speaker. The last paired device will be remembered and the speaker will try to pair with it every time you turn it on. If you want to pair some other device with the speaker, you have to press and hold the call button until you hear a beep. The signal is pretty strong. The advertised range is 33ft. It gets shorter when there is a wall between the speaker and your Bluetooth-enabled device but it’s still enough for uninterrupted music playback.

The battery on that older model has 650mAh capacity and it can offer up to 6 hours of playback at moderate volume (3-4 hours at maximum volume). The new version can offer up to 10 hours of playback at moderate volume. Recharge will take 2-3 hours.

The speaker is waterproof and dustproof with IP67 waterproof/dustproof rating. It can be fully immersed in water of up to 3ft depth for 30min. It is also completely dustproof which is important if you want to bring it with you to the beach.

The sound is kind of tiny but it’s decent for the price and size. You will have to crank up the volume when showering because it’s quiet. If a song has too much bass and if the volume is at maximum, the sound will be distorted.

iF012 is compatible with Siri but it doesn’t work every time.

 Things we don’t like

As we have already said, the suction cup gets weaker over time and it doesn’t stick firmly to the surface after a few months or a year. If you are buying a shower speaker (any shower speaker) with a suction cup, you will experience this issue at some point.

iF012 has a built-in mic but it’s really poor. It’s absolutely impossible to hear the person you are talking with while taking a shower. Even if you are not taking a shower, the situation doesn’t get much better. Your voice will sound muffled and strange.

Skip and volume controls are integrated and there are only two buttons for four actions. It doesn’t seem difficult to master the controls but you will still make a mistake occasionally and skip a song while trying to increase the volume. It can be frustrating until you get used to these buttons.

Along with the speaker, you will get a proprietary charging cable with a 3.5mm jack on one end (you are supposed to plug it into the speaker) and USB plug on the other end. The majority of small waterproof shower speakers uses micro USB to USB charging cable but not this one. You cannot use any other cable to charge the speaker and you should really try not to lose it.

2. Aqua Audio Cube – Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker with Suction Cup for Showers

Aqua Audio Cube

Aqua Audio Cube is $10 cheaper than the previous iF012 waterproof Bluetooth shower speaker. In some ways, it’s better than iF012 (better control buttons configuration and dedicated volume and track buttons, better Bluetooth range) but there is one crucial thing that makes iF012 much better – Aqua Audio Cube is only water-resistant (manufacturer doesn’t offer any info on IPX rating but we are assuming that it is IPX5 or IPX6) while iF012 is completely waterproof and dustproof (IP67 rating). Still, you can use it in the shower but it can’t survive full immersion in water.

 What’s in the box?

Aqua Audio Cube comes in a small illustrated box along with USB to micro USB charging cable, user manual, and 1-year warranty.

The speaker is square-shaped. It’s 3 inches wide, 3 inches high, and 3.6 inches deep. It weighs 0.1 pounds. It features one 3W driver.

 Things we like

There is nothing bad we can say about the design. It’s sleek and maybe a little bit sporty. The speaker is available in 5 different colors – black, blue, gold, pink, and silver. We prefer black and silver versions but that’s just the matter of taste.

We are not impressed by the build quality. It’s completely made of plastic and looks kind of cheap but that’s expected since it is cheap. We can’t complain too much about that. Build quality is satisfying considering the price.

Controls are the best and most important improvement in comparison to iF012. The controls are nicely arranged and simple to use. There are 7 buttons and there are dedicated volume and track buttons. You have 2 volume buttons, 2 track management buttons, power button, pairing button with the LED indicator, call button, and play/pause button. Just above the control pad, there’s a built-in mic.

The speaker uses Bluetooth 4.1. Pairing is simple and quick. The speaker will pair with the last paired device automatically so be sure to unpair your phone after you are done with showering. Advertised Bluetooth range is 50ft but in reality, you will get 35ft max. Still, that’s more than enough if you are going to use it in the shower and leave the phone in front of your bathroom or in your living room. The connection is stable and we haven’t experienced any signal loss.

Battery offers up to 12 hours at 50% volume but you will get much less if you crank up the volume (up to 5 hours at max volume). The recharge takes 2-3 hours.

Waterproofness was the first thing we weren’t happy about. Unlike iF012, Aqua Audio is only water-resistant (IPX5 or IPX6). It can be used in the shower but it’s not completely waterproof so be careful.

When it comes to sound quality, you basically get what you paid for. The bass is not really there, highs are kind of boring, mids are articulate and sweet. The sound is tiny (only one 3W speaker) and it gets distorted at maximum volume especially if you are playing some bass-heavy music.

Surprisingly the mic is not completely useless but you can’t talk while taking a shower – the sound of water overpowers your voice and the person on the other end won’t understand anything.

Aqua Audio Cube supports Siri but you can’t use it while taking a shower (because you can't use the mic).

 Things we don’t like

The suction cup is really unreliable. The problem with all the speakers with suction cups is that the suction ability gets much weaker during the time.

Voice notifications telling you that you are in pairing mode or paired is annoying and loud. Also, you will hear low battery warning a minute or two before the speaker stops working. It would be better to program it to send this warning half an hour before the battery dies.

The speaker is not waterproof, only water resistant.

3. VicTsing Wireless Waterproof Shower Speaker with Suction Cup

VicTsing

Check Price on Amazon

This speaker is a little bit different than the previous two. It’s more rugged and has some rubber reinforcements and rubberized edges. It comes with a detachable suction cup and with an aluminum carabiner so you can stick it to your bathroom wall or mirror or you can hang it (which is a safer option). In terms of design, it maybe looks better than the previous two but it has IPX4 (splash proof) rating which is not the best option when it comes to shower speakers. It can be used in the bathroom but it's probably smarter to hang it or stick it outside your shower cabin. The greatest advantage of this speakers is that it has the 5W driver (the previous two speakers have 3W drivers).

 What’s in the box?

VicTsing shower speaker comes in a nice little box along with one USB to micro USB charging cable, detachable suction cup, detachable aluminum carabiner, user manual, and 1-year warranty.

The speaker is shaped like a cylinder. The diameter of the base is 4.2 inches, and it’s 2.2 inches deep. It weighs 5.1 ounces.

 Things we like

We like the design of this speaker more than the previous two. This one looks like it can be used outdoors, too. It is rugged and rubberized, it’s really small and nice looking (more sporty than stylish). The speaker comes in three colors – blue, gray, and orange.

VicTsing shower speaker looks durable and sturdy. We are really impressed by the build quality. It’s made of plastic but the driver on top is protected with aluminum mesh and the frame is covered with silicone.

All the control buttons as well as charging port are distributed around the speaker’s perimeter. You will see the power button, micro USB charging port covered with a protective rubber flap, built-in mic, Volume UP/Next song button, Volume DOWN/previous song button, play/pause/call button, and LED status indicator. They are all nice and rubberized and easy to use but you really have to look at the speaker every time you want to adjust the volume or change the track.

The manufacturer doesn’t offer the info on Bluetooth version but based on our experience, it’s not Bluetooth 4.1 or 4.2 (more like 3.0 or 2.1). Pairing is simple and it takes 5-10 seconds. The speaker will remember the last paired device. The connection is stable and the Bluetooth range is 30ft (without obstacles). It allows uninterrupted playback even if you leave your phone in your living room.

The battery capacity is 500mAh. You can listen to music for up to 6 hours at 50% volume (3-4 hours at maximum volume). Recharge takes 2-3 hours.

We were not impressed by the waterproofness of this speaker. It features IPX4 rating which means that it is splash proof (NOT WATERPROOF) and you should probably avoid sticking it to your shower cabin wall or glass.

When it comes to sound quality, VicTsing shower speaker is actually better than iF012 and Aqua Audio Cube (it features 5W driver). The sound is far from impressive but it’s more than satisfying for such a small and cheap Bluetooth speaker. Don’t expect to be amazed. The sound is still tiny and the bass is weak. The reproduction of mid frequencies is the best thing about VicTsing speaker.

The built-in mic works well but you cannot use it while taking a shower (water overpowers the sound of your voice).

 Things we don’t like

The suction cup is always problematic (especially after some time of use) but the good thing is that VicTsing shower speaker comes with an aluminum carabiner which is a much safer option than the suction cup. You just have to find some place to hang it.

The speaker has 2 multifunction volume/track management buttons and you will need some time to get used to them. You will occasionally skip a song when trying to adjust the volume and that’s inevitable.

4. BassPal Bluetooth Waterproof Speaker with FM Radio and LED Lights

BassPal

Check Price on Amazon

This is another popular waterproof shower speaker. BassPal is a generic brand and you can find this exact same speaker under many different names – BESUNTEK, Auto Tech, AYOGU, Hydro Beat Illumination, etc. The price of this speaker varies from $20 to $35 and the cheapest possible option is the Basspal (gray and army green versions). That’s one of the reasons why we’ve picked out this exact brand. You don’t have to pay $35 – you can save $15 and get the exact same speaker.

For such a low price, Basspal Bluetooth waterproof speaker offers a lot. Probably much more than any other speaker we’ve mentioned. It’s maybe not as beautiful as iF012, but it is completely waterproof (IPX7 rating), dustproof (no info on dustproof rating), shockproof (covered with silicone), and scratchproof. This is the first speaker on the list with a built-in FM radio. It also features a built-in mic and LED lights that make it more attractive. It can be used in the shower, but it can also be used outdoors (rugged), in the car, at the pool (it floats on the water), etc. It’s maybe not the strongest small Bluetooth speaker on the market but it is definitely useful and it offers great value for your money.

 What’s in the box?

The Basspal speaker comes in a nice and small box. The packaging looks like a gift box. Inside the box, you will find your speaker, detachable suction cup, USB to micro USB charging cable, user manual, 30-day money back guarantee, and 1-year warranty.

The speaker is shaped like a cylinder. The diameter of the base is 3.2 inches and the depth of the speaker is 2.6 inches. It weighs 10 ounces. Inside the speaker, there is one 5W driver.

 Things we like

The design is not the best feature of the Basspal speaker. It looks like a toy, mostly because of that colorful silicone wrapping and LED lights). Still, it’s not awful and you might even like it more because of the design. It’s available in three different colors – blue, gray, and army green (gray and army green versions are cheaper than the blue one for some reason).

We are pretty much impressed by the build quality of this little thing. The housing and the protective mesh on the front side are made of ABS. The housing is then covered with silicone. The buttons are also made of silicone. Thanks to these reinforcements, the speaker is waterproof, dustproof, scratchproof, and shockproof and it can be used in many different places (indoors and outdoors). We are convinced that Basspal is made to last. Build quality is one of the greatest things about this speaker.

The control buttons are on the top side. There are five buttons – power on/off (you can also use it to turn on LED lights, change the color of the lights, and turn off the LED lights), 2 volume buttons that you can use to play the previous/next song, Mode button (use it to shift between FM and Bluetooth mode), and play/pause/stop button. The speaker also features the built-in mic. Micro USB charging port is protected with a silicone flap and it’s located on the side of the speaker (always check if the flap is sealed nicely). The controls are simple, responsive and easy to use but there’s that issue with the volume buttons (read about it in the next section).

Basspal uses Bluetooth 4.0 with a 33ft of range (if there are no obstacles). When there’s a wall between your phone (or any other Bluetooth-enabled device) and your speaker, the range gets significantly shorter (up to 20ft). The pairing process is quite simple and fast – the speaker will be in pairing mode the moment you turn it on.

The speaker features IPX7 waterproof rating and it can be fully submerged in water of up to 1m depth for 30 minutes. It is also dustproof, shockproof, scratchproof, and it floats on the water.

It features 650mAh battery and it can offer up to 8 hours of listening to music at moderate volume (50-70% volume). You will get up to 5 hours at maximum volume. Recharge takes 3 hours.

There’s also the FM radio feature in case you get bored of the music from your phone. You just have to press the Mode button once and FM radio will start playing (Bluetooth is the default mode). You can use the volume buttons for tuning. If you want to get back to Bluetooth mode, press the Mode button again.

The built-in mic is not completely useless but it’s far from being great. You can’t really use it in the shower – the sound of water simply overpowers your voice and your voice will be muffled. It offers decent performance when you are not taking a shower.

LED lights are a nice little detail. You can choose the color of the lights by short pressing power button (there are blue, red, and green lights). You can also turn them off if you don’t like them.

Sound quality is decent but not impressive. Considering the size and price, it’s more than satisfying. The sound lack’s bass and it gets distorted at high volumes, especially if you are playing bass-heavy music.

 Things we don’t like

There are no dedicated buttons for volume and track management. You have two buttons – volume up/next song and volume down/previous song and you can easily skip the song when trying to increase the volume.

FM signal reception is quite poor and the sound quality is worse in FM mode, especially when you are in the bathroom. It might have something to do with the interference caused by water and bathroom walls.

The suction cup is reliable at first and it’s pretty strong but it will inevitably get weaker after some time of use.

5. AYL Portable Outdoor and Shower Bluetooth 4.1 Speaker

AYL SoundFit

Check Price on Amazon

AYL Soundfit is very popular and highly rated small shower speaker. Just like the previous speaker, this is a generic brand and you can find this speaker under many different names like ShackJoy or Gembonics. Depending on the ‘’brand’’ and color, the price varies and the cheapest model is forest green AYL speaker that can be yours for about $16.  The price can go up to $25.

AYL Soundfit is a fashionable and rugged speaker. The best features of this speaker are its battery (1500mAh) and 5W driver. The greatest downsides are the IPX rating (it's IPX5, not IPX7) and corrosive mesh and screws.

 What’s in the box?

AYL Soundfit comes in a nice illustrated cardboard box with all the important features listed on it. The speaker comes with a carrying pouch, charging cable (standard USB to micro USB), AUX cable, and a silicone strap. This speaker doesn’t come with a suction cup, and you will have to hang it in your bathroom or place it on some flat surface.

The speaker is 3.6 inches wide, 3.9 inches high, and 2 inches deep. It weighs 9.5 ounces and it features one 50mm 5W driver.

 Things we like

The speaker looks quite nice. It’s more sporty than elegant and it comes in three different colors – forest green, ocean blue, and orange (forest green is the cheapest version).

AYL Soundfit looks quite strong and durable. The housing is made of plastic and then covered with silicone. There is some kind of aluminum mesh on the front side and plastic cover on the back side. It can definitely withstand some heavy use. There is one durability-related issue and you can read about it in the next section.

The speaker features 4 control buttons and they are all located on the top panel. You have the power button, + and – volume buttons, and play/pause/call button. There is the LED status indicator in the top left corner. Line-in AUX port and charging port are located on the left side and they are protected with a rubber flap. The speaker also has the built-in mic.

AYL Soundfit features Bluetooth 4.0. The Bluetooth range is 33ft and it gets shorter if there is a wall between your Bluetooth-enabled device and your speaker (you should probably leave your phone right in front of your bathroom doors).  Pairing is fast and you don’t have to press anything to turn on the pairing mode – it will turn on automatically the moment you turn on the speaker. In case you want to use it outdoors and you don't want or can't use the Bluetooth connection, there is always the AUX port and auxiliary cable.

The speaker is water-resistant (not waterproof). It features IPX5 rating so it can’t be fully submerged in water. Still, you can use it in the shower without consequences. It is also very rugged and it can be used outdoors. It can be mounted on a bike thanks to threaded insert on the bottom.

The battery is the best feature of this little speaker. It has the capacity of 1,500mAh and you can listen to music for up to 8 hours at 80% volume (approx. 6 hours at 100% volume). Recharge takes 4-5 hours.

Sound quality is decent, even satisfying for its size and price. The sound, in general, is tiny and the bass lacks some real impact (after all, there is only one 5W driver inside). Mids and highs are decent. Mids are definitely the best part when it comes to sound quality.

 Things we don’t like

Even though the IPX5 waterproof rating is just enough for shower use, this speaker is not completely waterproof (not IPX7) and you should use it with care (and you should wipe it off after use).

The biggest issue is durability-related (kind of). The mesh, as well as the screws, are susceptible to corrosion. After a few months of everyday use, the mesh will corrode if you don’t wipe it off after you take a shower. The speaker won’t stop working but it will look really bad.

There are two volume buttons on the speaker, but there are no track management buttons. You won’t be able to skip the song or play the previous one if you are in the shower (you have to use your phone to play the next/previous song).

6. iClever BTS03 Portable IP65 Waterproof Bluetooth Shower Speaker

iClever BTS03

Check Price on Amazon

iClever is a Chinese generic brand. iClever BTS03 resembles that previously mentioned AYL speaker. The aluminum mesh and silicone coating look a little bit different but they have similar features and price. The best features of this speaker are IP65 dustproof/waterproof rating and strong battery. The biggest downsides are the lack of track management buttons and the fact that it’s not completely waterproof. In case you like the design of the speaker but you want a something that’s fully waterproof, you have the improved BTS11 version of this iClever speaker. This version also offers better Bluetooth range and longer playtime. Here comes the ironic part – BTS11 is even cheaper than that BTS03 version. There are two possible reasons for that kind of price – first, there is something wrong with the BTS11 speaker, and second, BTS11 version is not as popular as BTS03 and they had to lower the price to make it more attractive. We had the opportunity to test the older version and we were quite happy with it.

 What’s in the box?

BTS03 speaker comes in a simple cardboard box. Along with the speaker, you will get a USB to micro USB charging cable, an auxiliary cable, user manual, and a warranty card. There’s also undetachable rubber strap in the top right corner of the speaker.

The speaker is 3.9 inches wide, 3.5 inches high, and 2 inches deep. It weighs 10 ounces. It features one 5W driver. There is an aluminum mesh on both sides of the speaker (front and back) but there is only one driver inside.

 Things we like

As we have already said, iClever BTS03 and AYL Soundfit look alike. They both have that cubic shape, they have similar dimensions, they both have ABS housing with a rubber coating. The design and color of the mesh and silicone coating are different. In our opinion, the iClever speaker looks slightly better. Maybe it’s because of the black mesh or the combination of black and orange that looks really nice but we definitely like it more.

BTS03 is very rugged, there is aluminum mesh on the front and on the back, the housing is made of ABS and there’s also a thick layer of rubber covering the plastic. It's definitely made to last and it can be used indoors and outdoors.

Just like AYL Soundfit speaker, BTS03 has 4 control buttons arranged in the same way (power button, 2 volume buttons, and play/pause/call button). They are easy to use. There is the LED Bluetooth indicator on top of the front panel (just above the mesh). The speaker also has the built-in mic and you can take calls while taking a shower (at least theoretically).

BTS03 features Bluetooth 4.0 with a 30ft range without obstacles (about 15-20ft if there’s a wall between your Bluetooth-enabled device and speaker). The speaker is compatible with all Bluetooth-enabled devices (iOS, Android, Windows). If you want to play the music from some non-Bluetooth device, you can connect it to the speaker via AUX cable but be careful – if you are using line-in port, your speaker won’t be waterproof at all (AUX port and micro USB charging port are located beneath the rubber flap that protects them and makes the speaker water resistant).

BTS03 has IP65 dustproof/waterproof rating which means that it is completely dustproof and only water-resistant (not waterproof and it can’t be submerged in water).

The battery is the best feature of this speaker. You will get 8-10 hours of playback at moderate volume (50-60%) and up to 5 hours at maximum volume. Recharge takes up to 4 hours.

Sound quality is expectedly tiny. You can’t expect such a small and cheap device to be incredibly bassy. The emphasis is on the mids and highs. It can get pretty loud but it can’t produce punchy bass. If you have reasonable expectations, you will be happy with the sound.

The microphone is useful but you can’t use it while taking a shower. I mean, you can but you won’t be happy with the results and the sound of water will overpower your voice and your voice will be muffled on the other end.

 Things we don’t like

The speaker doesn’t have track management buttons (previous/next song) and you will have to use your phone if you want to change the song. You won’t be able to do that in the bathroom, so be sure to make a nice playlist before you enter your bathroom.

BTS03 has an IP65 rating not IP67 and it’s not completely waterproof, only water resistant.

Pairing is simple but it takes longer than usual. The speaker needs approximately 10 seconds to pair with the phone.

7. Anker AK-A3182011 SoundCore Portable Bluetooth Shower Speaker – IPX7 Waterproof/Dustproof Rating and 10-Hour Playtime

Anker AK-A3182011

Check Price on Amazon

This small Anker speaker is just a little bit more expensive than others on this list but it is still very much affordable. There are two reasons for that kind of price. The first is the fact that Anker is already a recognizable name in the audio industry (especially when it comes to cheap and affordable audio equipment). The second reason is the design. This speaker looks better than all the previous speakers on the list.

The greatest features of this Anker Soundcore Sport speaker are IPX7 waterproof rating, long-lasting battery, and improved bass (it’s better than on other 3W speakers but don’t raise your hopes too high). The biggest downsides are the lack of track management buttons and low battery warning (we will elaborate on this issue in the last section of this review).

 What’s in the box?

Anker SoundCore Sport comes in a simple white and blue cardboard box. Along with the speaker, you will get charging cable (regular USB to micro USB), detachable rubber strap, user manual, and 18-month limited warranty. AUX cable and carrying box are not included and you have to buy them separately.

The speaker is 3.3 inches wide, 3.3 inches high, and 1.8 inches deep. It weighs 8.1 ounces. There are one 3W driver and one passive bass radiator inside the speaker.

 Things we like

In terms of design, this small speaker might be one of the most beautiful on the list. It’s simple but also very elegant. There’s a nice black mesh with white Anker logo on it, black plastic housing with a black rubber coating. The speaker is available in black color only.

Anker SoundCore Sport is a nicely built speaker. The aluminum mesh protects the driver and a thick layer of rubber protects the housing. The speaker is fully waterproof and it’s also sand and dustproof (there is no info on dustproof rating). There is only one issue regarding durability and we will talk about this issue in the next section.

Controls are simple. All the buttons are on the top. You have 4 control buttons – power button, multifunction Bluetooth/play/pause button, and two volume buttons. There’s a small LED status indicator on the front side, in the top left corner (beneath the grille).

There is no info on the Bluetooth version but in our experience, you will get standard Bluetooth range (approx. 30ft) and standard pairing process. It's compatible with all the Bluetooth-enabled devices (Android, iOS, Windows) and it can also be connected to non-Bluetooth devices through AUX port (AUX cable is not included).

The battery is pretty durable. There is no info on the capacity in the Specs list but you will get 9-10 hours at 50% volume (4-5 hours at max volume). Recharge takes 2-3 hours.

The speaker is fully waterproof and it is IPX7 rated. It can be fully submerged in 1m deep water for 30min but the sound gets muffled if the speaker gets soaked. If that happens, you just have to wipe it and dry it off. The sound will get back in a few hours.

The sound quality is surprisingly good for a 3W speaker. That passive bass radiator actually improves the bass significantly and you will get a nice punch. There was more bass than we’ve expected. Don’t expect to be amazed – this is still a small speaker with a tiny sound but it’s slightly better than other small 3W speakers and it can compete with those small 5W speakers we've mentioned previously.

The built-in mic is quite decent. The person on the other will hear you loud and clear if you are in some quiet environment but it won’t be that good if you are taking a shower.

 Things we don’t like

Low battery warning activates at 30% and it’s really annoying. The user manual says that you are going to hear the warning every 5 minutes but it’s more frequent.

If the speaker is exposed to direct sunlight for ten minutes or so, it will overheat and the sound will become extremely quiet. Even if you use the speaker on a hot day but don’t expose it to sunlight it could overheat and the volume will decrease significantly. The user manual states that you should avoid extreme temperatures but it doesn’t define the term extreme temperature.

The speaker doesn’t have track management buttons but you can use Bluetooth/call button to skip forward (you just have to press it twice).

8. Polk Audio BOOM Swimmer Bluetooth Speaker

Polk Audio BOOM

Check Price on Amazon

The first well-known name on the list. Finally. Polk Audio is one of the most popular brands and maybe the only really recognizable brand on this list. Polk Audio BOOM Swimmer Bluetooth speaker is an affordable waterproof speaker that can be used in the shower. It’s a little bit more expensive than other speakers on the list but, after all, it’s Polk. The price of the speaker varies depending on the color – the cheapest is the red one (can be bought for less than $30) and the price can go up to $50 (black, blue, white, green).

The best things about this speaker are the IPX7 waterproof rating and long-lasting battery. On the negative side, the speaker doesn’t have a built-in mic and track management (next/previous song) buttons.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a nice little box with a transparent plastic on the front side so you can see the product without taking it out. Along with the speaker, you will get a detachable silicone tail (you can use it to hook the speaker to a rod or to hang it), detachable suction cup, USB to micro USB charging cable, 3.5mm audio cable, user manual, and 1-year warranty.

The speaker has 2.6 inches in diameter, and it is 2.3 inches deep. It weighs 9 ounces and it features one 3W driver.

 Things we like

Polk Audio Boom Swimmer looks really nice. With that silicone tail, it looks like a small snake with a huge head. The speaker is available in 5 colors – black, blue, green, red, and white.

This little thing looks quite durable. We’ve been dropping it and tossing it and it was still working. The housing is made of plastic but it is fully covered with rubber that makes it waterproof, shockproof, and dirtproof. BOOM Swimmer is made to last, there is no doubt about that.

The controls are quite simple but they are not really distinguishable (they are just small raised pieces of rubber). There are 5 small buttons near the top of the speaker – power button, play/pause button, volume + and – buttons, and Bluetooth button. There are no track management buttons but you can use volume buttons to play the next/previous song (short press to adjust the volume, long press to change the song). There’s also a small Bluetooth LED indicator between the power button and volume up button.

There is no info on the Bluetooth version in the user manual but you will get a standard range and connection quality (approx. 30ft of range without obstacles). Pairing is simple but it doesn't start automatically when you turn on the speaker and you have to press that Bluetooth button until you hear ‘'pairing”. The rest of the process is simple. BOOM Swimmer is compatible with all kinds of Bluetooth-enabled devices and you can also connect it to non-Bluetooth devices through AUX cable (the speaker features 3.5mm AUX port).

The battery is pretty strong. There is no info on the capacity but you will get up to 16 hours of continuous playback at moderate volume and up to 6 hours at maximum volume. Recharge takes up to 2 hours.

The speaker is IPX7 rated which means that it is completely waterproof. Thanks to the rubber (or silicone) coating, it is also dirtproof and shockproof.

Sound quality is satisfying considering the price. The bass doesn’t exist but the sound can be really loud. The mids are the best part when it comes to sound. There is a small amount of distortion at max volume.

This speaker comes with 2 removable attachments – rubber tail attachment and suction cup.

 Things we don’t like

BOOM Swimmer doesn't feature the built-in mic and you have to use your phone if you want to answer calls.

The speaker doesn’t have dedicated track management buttons. You can play the next/previous track by long-pressing the volume buttons but you will have to master the controls.

The Suction cup loses its ability to stick to flat surfaces after some time (a few months or so) and it’s not reliable. Fortunately, the speaker won’t be damaged if it falls off.

The control buttons are not distinguishable – they are small raised pieces of rubber and they are the same color as the rest of the speaker.

9. Avantree SP950 Bluetooth Waterproof Shower Speaker, IPX6

Avantree SP950

Check Price on Amazon

Avantree SP950 is the cheapest speaker on the list and it can be yours for less than $10. If you really need to save some money but you want something functional, this is the speaker for you. SP950 definitely looks and feels cheap but that’s what you should expect when the price is so low.

The best features of this small speaker are durable battery, simple and likable design, micro SD card slot, and the fact that it is IPX6 rated (water-resistant and not completely waterproof). The biggest downsides are the lack of the microphone and poor build quality (which is actually acceptable considering the price).

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a simple box along with charging USB to micro USB cable, wrist strap, user manual, and surprisingly, with a 2-year limited warranty.

SP950 is 3.15 inches wide, 3.15 inches high, and 1.5 inches deep. It weighs 7 ounces. There is one 3W driver inside the speaker.

 Things we like

The speaker looks simple and minimalistic but still likable. It’s a cube-shaped speaker, the housing has a nice black matte finish. There’s a circular mesh with the Avantree logo on the front side. There’s also a thin layer of rubber on the edges. The back side is also black and made of plastic.

We are not happy with the speaker’s build quality. It simply looks cheap and fragile. We are not sure if it can withstand heavy usage. Considering the price, we can’t complain that much and that kind of build quality is expected. It’s cheap and it works but you will have to be careful with it.

Control buttons are simple and they are located on the top panel. You have four buttons – 2 volume buttons (- and +), multifunction Bluetooth/play/pause button, and power on/off/mode button. There are no dedicated track management (previous/next song) buttons. A small LED status indicator is in the top left corner and all the ports are on the back panel (micro SD card slot and micro USB charging port), protected with a thin rubber flap.

The speaker features Bluetooth 4.2 which is kind of surprising considering the price. The range is, as usual, 30ft (without obstacles). The connection quality is quite good – we were able to achieve uninterrupted continuous playback even when there was a wall between the speaker and the phone. SP950 is compatible with all the Bluetooth-enabled devices. The pairing process is simple and it takes 5-10 seconds.

The battery is also surprisingly strong. The capacity is 800mAh and you can listen to the music continuously for up to 10 hours at moderate volume (50-60%). Recharge takes up to 3 hours.

Another great thing that actually qualifies Avantree speaker for this list is the IPX6 waterproof rating. The speaker is water-resistant and it can survive strong water jets but it can’t survive full immersion in water (good choice for the shower, poor choice for the pool).

Sound quality is not the greatest. The bass doesn’t exist but the mids are fine and articulate. It can also get pretty loud for its size. For the price, the sound is more than satisfying.

The speaker also features micro SD card slot. Even if you are not going to use it, it’s a nice additional feature and it’s good to know that you can play the music from your SD card if the battery on your phone dies.

 Things we don’t like

There are no dedicated track management buttons. You can play the next/previous song by long-pressing the volume buttons but it would be better if there were two additional buttons.

The SP950 doesn’t have a built-in mic.

Build and sound quality are not the greatest but they are actually good for the price. That strong battery, great Bluetooth connectivity, and IPX6 rating make SP950 a very good budget speaker.

10. ARMOR MiNE Waterproof Bluetooth Wireless Speaker

ARMOR MiNE

Check Price on Amazon

This is another speaker that looks like a colorful toy. It can be yours for less than $30 but we have to warn you that it would not be our first choice at this price point. There are much better speakers within that price range and the only reason to buy this one might be the design. It really looks nice, we won’t argue that. The greatest features of this ARMOR MiNE speaker are its build quality, sound quality, and built-in mic but there is one really big downside. The speaker features Bluetooth V2.1 which doesn’t work flawlessly and makes this speaker much worse. It features powerful 800mAh battery but you will never get 10-12 hours of playtime like you would get with some other speaker using the same battery and that’s mostly caused by the Bluetooth version (older Bluetooth versions cause higher power consumption than newer). It’s a shame that this speaker doesn’t feature some newer Bluetooth version. That would eliminate most of the issues we’ve had with this speaker.

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a nice little box with all the technical specs written on it. Along with the speaker, you will get a wrist strap (which is actually a shoelace), user manual, and a USB to micro USB charging cable.

ARMOR MiNE is 3.5 inches wide, 3.5 inches high, and 2.6 inches deep. It weighs 10.6 ounces and it features 5W driver (there are aluminum grilles on both sides but don’t be fooled – there is only one driver).

 Things we like

The speaker looks really nice and colorful. It’s more of a sport speaker. The octagonal shape and vivid colors make it different than others. It comes in three colors – blue, green, and orange.

We are quite happy with the durability and build quality of this speaker. It’s well-built – all the sides are covered with some kind of rubber and there are aluminum grilles on the front and on the back panel. It's very rugged thanks to those rubbery reinforcements. The manufacturer claims that the speaker is shockproof and dustproof. This is the speaker for all activities. You can use it in the shower, but you can also take it with you to the pool or to the beach, etc.

The control buttons are on the left side of the speaker. You have four buttons – 2 volume buttons (+ and -), play/pause/call button, and power button. You can use the volume buttons to play the previous/next song but it would be better if there were two additional buttons. The built-in mic is located above the Volume + button, and the charging port is just under the Volume – button. The charging port is protected with a rubber flap.

The speaker features 800mAh battery which is decent capacity but unfortunately, you will get only 6 hours of playtime at moderate volume (2-3 hours at maximum volume). The reason for such a short battery life is probably the Bluetooth version (it uses Bluetooth 2.1).

ARMOR MiNE is IPX5 compliant which means that it can withstand low-pressure water jets. It can’t survive immersion in water but it can be used in the bathroom. It is also shockproof and dustproof.

Sound quality is pretty good. ARMOR MiNE is probably one of the best of all the speakers on the list. And it’s also one of the loudest. The bass is weak but it’s decent considering the size of the speaker. Mids and highs are pretty good, too. Mids are pretty detailed while the highs are bright.

The built-in mic is not completely useless but it can’t be used while taking a shower or in any other loud environment. Other sounds will overpower your voice.

 Things we don’t like

The speaker features Bluetooth 2.1 and this is probably the main issue that causes some other issues, too. First of all, the Bluetooth range is shorter than 30ft and the signal cuts out if the distance between the speaker and your Bluetooth-enabled device is more than 15ft and we are not happy with that kind of range. We haven't experienced pairing issues and it will pair with different Bluetooth-enabled devices. Bluetooth connection is the only way of connecting the speaker to your device since there is no 3.5mm input.

ARMOR MiNE doesn’t have dedicated track management buttons and you will have to use volume buttons to play the next/previous song.

You can probably get a better speaker for that kind of money. Two reasons for buying this speaker could be the design and sound quality/loudness but you should be aware of all the flaws.

11. Shower-Mate Water-Resistant Wireless Bluetooth Speaker with Hands-Free Speakerphone

Shower-Mate

Check Price on Amazon

The next speaker is specially designed for use in the shower and it was named appropriately Shower-mate. This is the second cheapest on the list and like all the other Chinese no-name brands, you can find it under different names on the market (like SoundBot, for example). The best things about this small speaker, besides the price, are its waterproofness (IPX4 rating) and Bluetooth connection, and the worst thing is the suction cup which is really unreliable. The battery is not the best but it’s still more than enough if you are going to use it in the shower only (after all, this is the primary purpose of this small speaker).

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a transparent plastic box. Inside, you will find your Shower-mate speaker and detachable suction cup, USB to micro USB charging cable, user manual, and 1-year warranty card.

This dome-shaped speaker has a diameter of 3.25 inches, and it’s 2.25 deep (with the suction cup). The speaker weighs 3.5 ounces and there is one 3W driver inside the speaker.

 Things we like

The speaker looks simple and minimalistic. It’s not actually stylish or sporty, it looks more like a toy (the packaging also looks like there’s a toy inside). Shower-mate comes in many different colors – black, blue, white, green, yellow, etc.

The speaker is nicely built. It’s not the most durable on the list but considering the price the build quality and durability are satisfying. The housing is made of plastic but it is completely covered with rubber.

The control buttons are located on the front side of the speaker. The control pad is circular and there are 5 buttons – play/pause button (in the middle), power on/off with the LED indicator (beneath the button), 2 volume/track management buttons, and call button with a built-in mic.

Shower-mate features Bluetooth 3.0 with a standard range of 33ft. The pairing process is simple and it’s done in a few seconds. The speaker is compatible with all kinds of Bluetooth enabled device (iOS, Android). There is no 3.5mm jack and you can’t connect non-Bluetooth devices to your speaker but after all, this speaker is specially designed for use in the shower and you should never open that rubber flap covering the charging port.

There is 400mAh battery inside the speaker. It offers up to 3 hours of playtime or 8 hours of talk. The battery is not the best feature of this speaker but it’s not completely useless and can be considered satisfying for the price.

Shower-mate speaker has IPX4 splash-proof rating which is not the best possible option when it comes to shower speakers and we are not completely happy with this feature. You should probably avoid exposing it to water streams.

Sound quality is kind of tiny. The bass doesn’t exist. Mids are the best part. If this was some more expensive shower speaker we would not be happy with the sound quality at all but since it’s cheap, it’s not really that bad. Anyway, if you can spend $15 more, you should buy some $30 speaker (preferably with a 5W driver).

 Things we don’t like

The suction cup is really unreliable and it gets even worse after a few months of use. It’s safer to place it on some flat surface than to stick it to your wall/mirror/.

There are no dedicated track management buttons and you have to use 2 buttons to adjust the volume and play the next/previous song. This can be tricky and you will occasionally change the song while trying to increase the volume.

12. Mpow Buckler Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Shower Speaker with Mic

Mpow Buckler

Check Price on Amazon

Mpow is probably more recognizable than other generic brands. It’s one of the most popular brands when it comes to cheap and affordable audio equipment because it offers pretty good value for your money. Mpow Buckler is a great example of Mpow’s policy. The best feature of this speaker is definitely the battery. The speaker features IPX4 rating and it's splash proof (not waterproof or water resistant). As you already know, IPX7 is preferred rating, IPX6 and IPX5 are the next best choices, and IPX4 is the lower limit if you are going to use the speaker in the shower. That's the thing that bothered us the most but you can still use it in the shower and it will survive. The biggest downsides of this speaker are the suction cup (becomes unreliable after a few months of use) and control buttons (indistinguishable).

 What’s in the box?

Mpow Buckler comes in a nice-looking box along with charging cable (USB to micro USB), metal carabiner, detachable suction cup, user manual, and 18-month warranty.

The speaker is cylindrical. Its diameter is 3.7 inches, it is 1.3 inches deep, and it weighs 5.1 ounces. There is one 5W driver inside the speaker.

 Things we like

Just like some previously mentioned speakers, Mpow Buckler looks more like a toy than like a speaker. It comes in black, blue, and orange colors.

Buckler is very well made. The driver is placed inside the plastic housing. The housing is covered with silicone which makes it more rugged and waterproof (splash proof). There is an aluminum grille with Mpow logo on the front side.

All the control buttons are located on the rim. There are 4 buttons on that silicone rim – power button, 2 volume/track management buttons, and play/pause button. There is also a rubber flap covering micro USB charging port.

The speaker features Bluetooth 3.0 with a 30ft Bluetooth range. The connection is stable and strong – you can leave the speaker outside your bathroom, bring the speaker with you, and play the music without any interference. The pairing process is simple and the speaker will go to pairing mode when you turn it on.

The info on battery capacity is confusing, the specs say that there is 500mAh inside while the official Mpow webpage says 1000mAh. We are going to talk only about the things we can confirm. The battery offers up to 8 hours of playback at moderate volume (60%), and recharge takes 3-4 hours.

When it comes to waterproofness, this is not the best speaker on the list and if you need something that’s fully waterproof, you should look elsewhere. This one is IPX4 rated (splash proof), and thanks to that silicone cover, it is also dustproof.

Mpow Buckler has 5W driver and it can deliver decent sound quality and loudness for its size (and price). Don’t expect to be amazed – the bass is not impressive but the mids are sweet and detailed. There is almost no distortion at high volumes.

 Things we don’t like

The suction cup that comes with the speaker is quite strong at first but it becomes really unreliable over time and you should probably use the carabiner instead of the suction cup and hook it somewhere.

The control buttons are undistinguishable – those small pieces of silicone sticking out from the silicone cover are almost invisible. Another button-related issue is that you have to use only 2 buttons to adjust the volume and to skip a song or play the previous song. 2 more buttons would be a nice improvement.

Mpow Buckler doesn’t have a built-in mic.

The speaker has an IPX4 rating – it’s splash proof and not completely waterproof. If you need something completely waterproof, look for speakers with the IPX7 rating.

13. Bluetooth Speaker MANTO Cuckoo Portable Wireless Mini Waterproof Stereo Sound System for Shower, Outdoor Hiking, Camping, Cycling – Grey

Manto Cuckoo

Check Price on Amazon

MANTO Cuckoo looks like an improved version of the previously mentioned Mpow Buckler. It’s sturdier and more rugged, it has better IPX rating (IPX5), the control buttons are designed better, and it does have a built-in mic. And it’s 10 bucks cheaper.

The best feature of the MANTO Cuckoo is, without any doubt, its battery. The battery capacity is 1000mAh which is great. It also features Bluetooth 4.2, 4W driver, it's water-resistant and it really looks nice. This little thing really deserves to be on this list. The biggest downsides of MANTO Cuckoo speaker are the unreliable suction cup and the lack of track management buttons (you have to use volume buttons to play the next/previous song).

 What’s in the box?

MANTO Cuckoo speaker comes in a small and simple cardboard box. Inside the packaging, you will find the speaker, suction cup, carabiner, user manual, and 18-month warranty.

The speaker is cylindrical, just like many other shower speakers on the list. Its diameter is 3.6 inches, it is 1.6 inches deep, and it weighs 4.3 ounces. It features one 4W driver.

Unlike other generic brands, MANTO is pretty transparent when it comes to specifications. The manufacturer claims that the frequency response of the speaker spans from 120H to 17kHz and its sensitivity is 80dB.

 Things we like

The speaker looks really nice. It’s stylish and sporty at the same time and you can use it in many places and on many occasions. It’s available in black color only which is a minor flaw.

MANTO Cuckoo looks and feels quite durable. It’s rugged – the plastic housing is completely covered with silicone. The most of the front panel is covered with a protective aluminum mesh with MANTO logo on it. Based on our experience, this is one of the strongest and most durable speakers on the list.

Control buttons are located on that protective silicone ring. There are five control buttons – power button, multifunction call/mode button, + and – volume buttons that you have to use if you want to play the next/previous song, and play/pause button. There is a rubber flap on the bottom covering micro SD card slot and micro USB charging port.

The speaker uses Bluetooth 4.2 which is the best possible option at this price point. Newer Bluetooth versions improve the connectivity and sound quality but also reduce the power consumption and enable longer playtime. The pairing process is quite fast and simple. There is the LED status indicator beneath the mesh and you will know that you are in pairing mode when the blue light starts blinking (and it will start blinking when you turn on the speaker – the Bluetooth is the default mode). Pairing takes up to 5 seconds. The connection is strong and we haven't experienced any signal loss but the Bluetooth range is actually shorter than advertised (approx. 25ft and not 33ft). Bluetooth is the only way of connecting the speaker to your devices. If you have some non-Bluetooth device (like an mp3 player) you won't be able to connect it since there is no AUX port.

As you already know, the battery is the best thing about this speaker. The capacity is 1000mAh and you will get up to 12 hours of playtime at 50-60% volume (6-7 hours at max volume). Recharge takes 3-4 hours.

The speaker is water-resistant (IPX5 rated). It can withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction but it’s not submersible. Still, it can be used in the shower without worries.

Sound quality is quite satisfying. That 4W driver can't really reproduce bass and you shouldn't expect that. After all, it's really small and if you want big sound you need a bigger speaker. Mids are pleasant and articulate while the highs sound kind of dull. The speaker can get pretty loud for its size.

Micro SD card slot is a nice additional feature and it deserves to be mentioned. Maximum supported SD card capacity is 64Gb.

The built-in mic delivers decent performance in a quiet environment but it won’t be that useful in a noisy environment and your voice won’t be loud and clear if you are using it while taking a shower.

 Things we don’t like

The buttons are nicely designed and distinguishable but there are no dedicated track management buttons. You will have to use volume buttons if you want to play the previous/next song and you will occasionally skip a song when trying to adjust the volume.

The suction cup is small and really unreliable – the suction force is just too weak. Luckily, there is also the carabiner so you can hook or hang the speaker instead.

The speaker is water-resistant but not completely waterproof (IPX5 and not IPX7).

14. Shower Speaker – AVWOO A021-BK IP67 Waterproof Bluetooth Shower Speaker

AVWOO A021-BK

Check Price on Amazon

AVWOO A021 is another small, completely waterproof and dustproof Bluetooth budget speaker. It’s an excellent choice if you are on a budget since it’s cheaper than any other IPX7 or IP67 waterproof Bluetooth speaker. And it also makes a nice light show.

The best features of this speaker are its waterproof/dustproof rating (IP67), its battery longevity, and Bluetooth range. We also loved the speaker’s design, build quality, and additional features like micro-SD card slot and all those flashing lights. The sound quality is decent. The only thing that we don’t like about this speaker is the lack of track management buttons (play the previous/next song).

 What’s in the box?

AVWOO A021 comes in a nice and small illustrated box. Along with the speaker, you will get an auxiliary audio cord, USB to micro USB charging cable, aluminum carabiner, user manual, and 3-year limited warranty.

The speaker is cylindrical. Its diameter is 4 inches and it is 1.6 inches deep. A021 weighs 10.4 ounces. There is one 5W driver inside the speaker.

 Things we like

The speaker looks really elegant but also sporty and rugged. It looks like it can be used anywhere and anytime. Two versions are available – black and white.

A021 is made from plastic and then covered with silicone. The grille on the front side is made of thick ABS. The overall build quality is more than satisfying considering the price and we are quite happy with it.

All the control buttons are located on the silicone rim. There are 5 buttons – light button (you can use it to shift between different light show modes or to turn it off), power button, two volume buttons (you can use them to adjust the volume or to play the previous/next song) and call button. On the lower end of the speaker, you will see a rubber flap protecting micro USB charging port, micro-SD card slot, and 3.5mm port.

The speaker features Bluetooth 4.2 with a 50ft range (the actual range is shorter and it’s approximately 35ft). We are quite happy with the connection quality and range (we haven’t experienced sound cut out or signal loss). The pairing process is quick and simple and the speaker will be in pairing mode the moment you turn it on. The speaker features 3.5mm port, too. If you want to connect some non-Bluetooth device to your speaker, you can use that AUX audio cord that comes with the speaker.

The battery has 1000mAh capacity and it can deliver up to 12 hours of playback time at moderate volume or approx. 6 hours at maximum volume. The recharge takes 3-4 hours.

When it comes to waterproofness, A021 can’t be any better. It features IP67 waterproof/dustproof rating and it can be fully submerged in water or used outdoors. The speaker can also float on the water.

A021 features one 5W driver. You won’t get a great low-end reproduction but the mids and highs are pretty decent. Loudness is more than satisfying considering the price and size of the speaker.

The built-in mic is a nice additional feature. It’s usable but far from perfect. There will be some distortion and echo on the other side even if you use it in a quiet environment and it gets completely useless if there is too much noise.

Micro-SD card is another extra feature. Even if you are not going to use it, it’s good to know that you can take out the SD card from your phone, insert it into the micro-SD card slot, and play the music from it.

The thing that makes this speaker really special are flashing lights. None of the other speakers on the list have this fun feature. There are 7 different colors and three light show modes. You can also turn off the light show completely if you want to save the battery but it's much more fun if they are turned on.

 Things we don’t like

A021 doesn’t have dedicated track management buttons. You will have to use 2 volume buttons to play the previous/next song and you will occasionally skip a song when trying to adjust the volume.

The light show is not synchronized with the music.

15. Hrome Bluetooth IPX7 Waterproof Shower Speaker with FM Radio

Hrome

Check Price on Amazon

Hrome shower speaker is one the most expensive waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers on the list but it’s still pretty much affordable and you can have it for less than $35. It looks like an upgraded version of Shower-mate (the speaker we’ve reviewed previously). There are a lot of great things about the speaker – it looks really nice when the LED lights are on (otherwise it’s too ordinary), it’s relatively durable (but not the most rugged and durable on the list), it has really strong battery (but average playtime), it is completely waterproof, and it has a bunch of additional features (LCD display, FM radio, clock, and built-in mic). We didn’t like the suction cup (it’s unreliable and weak).

 What’s in the box?

The speaker comes in a small illustrated box. Besides the speaker, you will get a suction cup, user manual, USB to micro USB charging cable, and 1-year warranty.

The speaker is dome-shaped. The diameter of the dome is 5 inches, it’s 3 inches deep, and it weighs 8.8 ounces. Inside the speaker, there’s one 5W driver.

 Things we like

The speaker looks pretty ordinary when it’s turned off but when you turn it on and when all the lights and backlit LCD show up, the situation gets much better. It’s not really stylish, elegant, of sporty but it’s definitely fun. The speaker comes in black color only.

Hrome Shower speaker is not the most durable speaker on the list but it’s still rugged and sturdy enough. It’s specially designed for shower use but it can be used outdoors, too.

Control buttons are not as simple as control buttons on the other speakers, mostly because of additional features. All the controls are on the front panel, they are arranged in a circle, and there are 7 buttons – play/pause/call button, power button, mode button (you can use it to shift between FM, clock, and Bluetooth mode), next and previous song buttons, and two volume buttons (V+ and V-). The built-in mic is located between V+ and next/song buttons. The speaker has a small backlit LCD screen. This LCD screen is located on the front side, just below the control pad. Charging port is located on the rim of the speaker and it’s protected by a rubber flap.

Hrome shower speaker uses Bluetooth 4.0 with a 30ft range. The pairing process is pretty much standard and it starts when you turn on the speaker. This is the only speaker on this list that features NFC. NFC enables even quicker pairing (for Android users only). If you have an Android device, you just have to tap that Hrome sign on the speaker and they will be paired in a second – you don’t have to search for Bluetooth devices and click pair manually if you have an Android phone. We are happy with all the aspects of Bluetooth connection.

Hrome speaker features pretty large 2,600mAh battery but you will get only 6-8 hours of playtime at moderate volume mostly because of the other features (LED lights and LCD display). You will get even less at maximum volume. The recharge takes 6-8 hours which is a bit too much.

The speaker is completely waterproof (IPX7 rated) and it can be submerged in water. No complaints there, it can’t get better than that. There is no info on dustproof rating, though.

Sound quality is satisfying but far from perfect. The bass is really weak and highs are dull. The emphasis is on the mid-tones and they are really detailed. It’s not the loudest on the list and there’s a distortion at high volumes.

The built-in mic can be used in quiet environments but it’s useless if you are in the shower.

FM Radio is a nice extra feature and it’s really great. The speaker can memorize up to 30 stations and if you get bored with your playlist, you can always listen to the radio.

Hrome is the only shower speaker on this list with a clock and backlit LCD display. Depending on the mode, you will see different information on that display (but it won’t show the name of the song in Bluetooth mode).

The light show is the thing that turns Hrome shower speaker from ordinary to extremely fun.

 Things we don’t like

Hrome shower speaker is not as simple as some other shower speakers and you might need to consult the user manual in order to set up the clock (it’s not that hard but it takes some time).

The suction cup becomes unreliable after a few months of use and if you want to prolong the life of your speaker, you should find some flat surface and place the speaker on it instead of sticking it to the wall/glass.

Voice prompts announcing the mode can be quite annoying.

If you turn on the FM mode, you won’t be able to see the clock, only the frequency of the radio station.

Things You Should Take in Consideration When Buying Waterproof Bluetooth Shower Speaker

We have singled out 8 important things you should take in consideration when buying waterproof Bluetooth shower speaker, and if you’ve read the introduction, you can probably guess the most of these things. So, let’s start.

Price

The price of those on our list goes up to $50 (most of them are within the price range $20-$30) but if you want a speaker that’s stronger and can be used outdoors, you should be prepared to pay up to $200 (for some UE or JBL speakers).

Purpose

We have discussed this already. The purpose defines the price and all the other characteristics (sound quality, build quality, strength, and loudness). If you are looking for a multipurpose speaker (the one that can be used in the shower but also outdoors), you need a stronger and more expensive speaker but if you want a speaker that you are going to use in your bathroom only, you can buy something smaller and more affordable.

Size and design

This one is also explained previously – small sized affordable speakers are, in our opinion, a better choice if you are going to use it in your bathroom only. If you are going to use it outdoors, you are going to need something bigger. When it comes to design, you get to choose between those with a suction cup, with a loop (and carabiner), and free-standing speakers. It all depends on your preferences. You should be aware that those with suction cups lose their ability to stick to the wall/glass after some time and if they fall, they could break (they are all made of plastic). So, if you want to avoid unexpected costs, you should probably buy those with loops or small free-standing speakers.

Waterproofness (IP and IPX rating)

This is one of the key features when it comes to shower speakers. If you are going to use the speaker in the shower, you really have to pay attention to the waterproofness. If you want something that you are going to use outdoors, you need a speaker that’s dustproof, too. There are 6 levels of dust resistance and if you want to buy an outdoor speaker that can be used as a shower speaker, you should be looking for speakers with a dustproof rating 6 (in an IPXY rating, X stands for dustproof rating and Y stands for waterproof rating). There are also 8 levels of waterproofness.

You will find 8 on devices that can survive full immersion in water that’s deeper than 1m; 7 is much more common waterproof rating than 8 and you can find it on devices that can survive immersion in water of up to 1m depth for 30min; 6 implies that the product can’t survive full immersion but only strong jets of water (sprayed through a nozzle with a 12.5mm diameter); 5 implies that the product can survive water jets sprayed through 6.5mm nozzle; 4 implies that the product can survive splashes of water. You should be looking for devices with a waterproof rating 4 or higher (preferably 7). So, to conclude, if you want to buy an outdoor speaker that can be used as a shower speaker, you need IP67 or IP68 rating (that’s the best possible option but you will be fine even if you buy a speaker with IP65 or IP66 rating). If you need a cheap speaker that you are going to use in the shower and not outdoors, you should be looking for those with IPX4 to IPX7 rating (IPX7 is, of course, the best option).

Battery Durability

Battery durability is another important feature. You don’t want a speaker that’s going to stop working in the middle of the shower. Most of the speakers on the list have batteries that offer at least 5 hours of playback and some of them offer much more (up to 12 hours at moderate volume). The average is 8-10 hours of playback at moderate volume (which usually means 4-6 hours at maximum volume). Depending on the duration of your showering routine, you will have to charge most of these speakers once a week.

Connection Quality (Bluetooth range)

Bluetooth range and connection quality are of crucial importance when you are buying a Bluetooth speaker and it’s even more important when you are buying a Bluetooth shower speaker. You will have to leave your phone in some other room or on some table in front of your bathroom and you need a speaker that can receive the signal coming from your phone through at least one wall. In general, newer Bluetooth versions offer greater range and better connection without signal loss. Speakers using Bluetooth 2.1 version don’t have to be completely useless and they are often cheaper than speakers using newer Bluetooth version (4.1 or 4.2) but it’s smart to test them before making the purchase. Still, if you don’t mind spending $10-$20 more, buy a speaker that features Bluetooth 4.1 or 4.2. These Bluetooth versions enable greater range, better connection quality, and easier and faster pairing. There is one more really important thing – speakers using Bluetooth 4.1 or 4.2 have lower power consumption which means that your battery is going to last longer.

Different Modes and Additional Features (like a built-in mic)

Additional features are also important. Most of the speakers on the list have AUX input so you can connect your non-Bluetooth devices to your speaker (but you can’t really use that feature in the shower). Some of them have SD card slots which allow you to play the music from the SD card. Some speakers have FM radio tuner which can be really useful if the connection breaks while you are taking a shower. Some waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers have built-in mics allowing you to answer calls in the shower (if that’s something you like to do). Anyway, having these nice additional features is always better than not having them and you should be looking for a shower speaker that has at least FM tuner (as a backup option) and a built-in mic (in case you really need to take a call even if you don’t like doing that). We should also emphasize the importance of control buttons – some speakers are extremely simple and have only ON/OFF switch or button but if you really want to have the control over your playback, you should be looking for a speaker with a few more control buttons.

Sound Quality

The ultimate purpose of a speaker is to reproduce music and deliver a great listening experience. Some of those larger outdoor speakers that can be used in the shower deliver pretty impressive sound quality but if you decide to buy one of those small and affordable waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers, you shouldn’t expect that kind of performance. They are very small and they usually have only one 3W or 5W driver. That means that you can’t expect perfect reproduction across a wide range of frequencies. They can be great for their size but they cannot compete with large outdoor Bluetooth speakers.

Small shower speakers are meant to be fun. They will definitely make your showering routine more interesting, they could even make you dance and sing in the shower but they don’t deliver perfect sound quality. So, it all comes down to your needs and preferences. If you want something louder, with much fuller sound and more accurate reproduction, you should buy more expensive large outdoor Bluetooth speaker. If you need something small that you are going to use in the shower, any of the speakers from our list 15 best waterproof Bluetooth shower speakers, would be a perfect choice.
