True Wireless VS Regular Wireless Earbuds
Before we move onto the reviews, it’s important to make a difference between two common types of wireless earbuds – ‘’regular’’ wireless earbuds and true wireless earbuds. The difference between these two types is not in the price or audio quality. It’s all about convenience, personal preference, and style. Oh, and it’s also about the battery life.
‘’Regular’’ wireless earbuds are wireless earbuds with a short neckband-style cord connecting the earbuds. On the other hand, true wireless earbuds are completely cord-free – you have two separate earbuds without a cable between them and you can either use one or both earbuds at a time.
The price difference between the two types is practically nonexistent. The prices vary depending on the brand but you can find numerous affordable earbuds of both types. The cheapest are priced under $30.
As said, your choice depends mainly on your personal preferences. In our opinion, ‘’regular’’ wireless earbuds are better for workouts and true wireless earbuds are better for commuting and traveling. However, some people really hate those neckband-style cords dangling up and down all the time during their workout routine. Others don’t like true wireless earbuds because they are much easier to lose. So, there’s no point in arguing which one is more convenient or ‘’better’’. Just, pick the ones you like.
The most important difference between regular and true wireless earbuds, besides the visual appearance, is the difference in battery life. Generally speaking, regular wireless earbuds have longer battery life than true wireless earbuds. The reason is simple – the manufacturers of regular earbuds have the ability to install larger battery packs outside the earbuds (on the cable) while the manufacturers of true wireless earbuds have no other option but to install the batteries inside the earbuds. So, if you want a longer battery life, you should go for regular wireless earbuds.
What’s the Desirable/Maximum Battery Life for a Pair of Wireless Earbuds?
Regular wireless earbuds typically offer 5 to 20 hours of battery life, with most models delivering 8-10 hours. True wireless earbuds generally have shorter battery life, averaging 4-6 hours per charge. However, some true wireless models can reach up to 10-12 hours. Additionally, their charging cases can provide significant extra power, often adding up to 30 hours of cumulative playtime.
When it comes to regular wireless earbuds the battery life varies between 5h and 20h. Most earbuds can deliver at least 8h-10h. All the models from our list can deliver more than 10 hours of continuous playback.
Note: playtimes are measured at moderate volumes (40-60% volume).
As said, true wireless earbuds are less capable than regular wireless earbuds. Their battery life is usually much shorter. The average playtime is 4h-6h per charge but some true wireless earbuds can deliver up to 10h (or even 12h). So, it’s not impossible to find true wireless earbuds that deliver longer playtime than some regular wireless earbuds but the general rule is – regular earbuds have longer battery life than true wireless earbuds. However, true wireless earbuds usually come with a carrying case that doubles as a charging cradle. This case can deliver up to 30h of additional playback and it allows you to charge the earbuds on the go. It’s basically a portable battery pack for your earbuds.
When it comes to true wireless earbuds, it’s important to make a difference between continuous and cumulative playtime. Continuous playtime is the playtime per one charge (one cycle), while the cumulative playtime represents the sum of continuous playtime and the playtime provided by the case. So, if a pair of true wireless earbuds deliver 6 hours of playtime per charge (continuous playtime) and if it comes with a charging case that provides 4 charging cycles (24h of additional playtime), the cumulative playtime would be 30 hours. So, it’s more than a pair of regular wireless earbuds can deliver continuously, but you still have to charge them for an hour or two after every 6h use.
Now that we’ve covered all the bases, let’s move onto the more interesting part. Our selection of 8 best wireless earbuds with long battery life is divided into two sections – best true wireless earbuds with long battery life and best regular wireless earbuds with long battery life. So, just pick the earbud type you prefer and look for something you like.
Best True Wireless Earbuds with Long Battery Life
1. Powerbeats Pro
Continuous playtime: 10h
Cumulative playtime: 24h
Powerbeats Pro is one of the most popular and best-performing true wireless earbuds on the market. They have a very long battery life, surprisingly balanced and accurate sound reproduction for a Beats product, and offer above-average comfort and stability. Powerbeats Pro earbuds are a great choice for sports and traveling.
What’s in the box?
The box contains your Powerbeats Pro true wireless earbuds, 3 pairs of silicone tips, charging case, USB-A to lightning charging cable, manual, and a warranty card.
Things we like
Powerbeats Pro earbuds feature a sporty design with over-ear hooks and feel very solid and durable. The housings are coated and are IPX4 rated (splash-proof) which makes them perfect for sports.
Comfort is surprisingly good for a pair of earbuds. They are super-light and don't go too deep into your ears. The over-ear hooks improve overall stability and fit.
Controls are simple, intuitive, and responsive. You have the same controls on both earbuds – the multifunction ‘’beats’’ button for playback/call control (short tap – play/pause/answer, double tap – next song, triple tap – previous song) and volume +/- button on top of the earbud. When paired with iOS devices, you can also long-press the ‘’beats’’ button to activate Siri.
The earbuds feature Bluetooth 5.0 and H1 chip (for improved performance when used with iOS devices). The pairing is simple and the range extends to 150+ ft under ideal circumstances. The earbuds are compatible with Android devices, too. Wireless connection is perfectly stable and reliable.
The battery is one of the most impressive things about these earbuds. When played at 50% volume, Powerbeats Pro will deliver up to 10h on a single charge. The case will allow you to fully charge the earbuds once more. The cumulative playtime is approx. 24 hours. Another useful feature is fast-charge – you will get 1.5h of playtime after 5mins of charging.
The earbuds also support a smart start/pause feature – the playback will start or stop when you take the earbuds in or out. Also, the earbuds will turn off after 20mins of inactivity.
If you have an Android device, you can install the Beats app. The app will only allow you to check the battery status (for both earbuds and for the case). When paired and synced with an iPhone or some other Apple device, you don’t have to install any app. You will get a simple Powerbeats Pro interface with a battery status info.
The sound is surprisingly detailed and balanced for a pair of Beats earbuds. The bass response is very good – it’s accurate, punchy, and nicely textured but not overemphasized. The mids are simply perfect. The midrange reproduction is detailed and the vocals are crisp and clear. Treble is fairly consistent. There’s some noticeable brightness at higher volumes but it’s not harsh or fatiguing.
Mic performance is above average. The mic performs perfectly fine in quiet and moderately loud environments. The voices are a little bit thin and muffled but still quite clear.
Things we don’t like
The price tag is probably the biggest dealbreaker. They are not highly overpriced but still are expensive. If you are looking for something affordable, these are not for you.
Noise isolation is not perfect and it depends highly on the fit.
Multipoint pairing is not supported so you can’t pair two devices simultaneously with the earbuds.
2. Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro
Continuous playtime: 8h
Cumulative playtime: 32h
Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro is another great pair of earbuds. Like the Powerbeats Pro, they are designed for sports and traveling. Liberty 2 Pro earbuds deliver slightly shorter but still very impressive battery life for true wireless earbuds. They are significantly cheaper than Powerbeats Pro but can’t be considered inexpensive.
What’s in the box?
Liberty 2 Pro earbuds come with 6 pairs of ear tips, 3 pairs of ear wings (in-ear hooks), charging case, USB-C charging cable, manual, and a warranty card.
Things we like
The earbuds look stylish and sporty. They are a bit more compact than the Powerbeats Pro and are equally solid. Just like the Powerbeats Pro, Liberty 2 Pro earbuds feature IPX4 rating. They are splash-proof and can withstand heavy sweating.
You have the same controls on both earbuds so you can use them in mono or stereo mode. Each earbud features a multifunction button for playback/call control. There are no separate volume buttons but you can use the Soundcore app (Android or iOS) to assign volume up/down functions to the existing buttons (button mapping). The app allows you to play with EQ settings (20 EQ presets), to customize sound via HearID, and to update the firmware.
The earbuds feature Bluetooth 5.0. The pairing is fast and the range is 30ft. The Bluetooth supports SBC, AAC, and aptX audio codecs.
The battery delivers 8 hours of continuous playtime and can be fully charged in 1.5 hours. The case will provide 32 additional hours of playtime. You can charge the case wirelessly (QI charging) or via USB-C. Fast charge is also supported – you will get 2 hours of playtime after 10mins of charging.
The earbuds feature quite large hybrid drivers (customized Knowles BA + 11mm dynamic). The app has a really nice HearID feature that analyzes your hearing and adjusts the sound profile to fit your ears. The sound reproduction is quite impressive. It's punchy, detailed, and clear, with a sparkling treble. The soundstage is surprisingly airy for a pair of earbuds.
Liberty 2 Pro earbuds have 4 mics with cVc 8.0 passive noise isolation. The mic performance is above-average and the communication is clear most of the time. You may experience some difficulties in noisy places but that’s completely understandable.
Things we don’t like
The Soundcore app allows you to choose EQ presets but doesn’t allow any manual EQ settings (there are no adjustable EQ bands).
Some Amazon reviewers complained about white noise or hissing noise coming from the right earbud. However, our test unit worked fine.
3. Samsung Galaxy Buds
Continuous playtime: 7.5h
Cumulative playtime: 15h
Galaxy buds are cheaper than the previous two models but are still priced over $100. They are designed for Samsung phones and tablets but work fine with all the other Android devices. iOS users should probably avoid them. Galaxy Buds are a good choice for commuting and traveling. They are not the best choice for sports. Their continuous playtime is quite impressive but their charging case will deliver only one additional charge (15 hours in total).
What’s in the box?
The box contains your Galaxy buds, 3 pairs of ear tips, 3 pairs of oddly shaped in-ear wings, charging case, USB-C charging cable, and standard paperwork.
Things we like
Galaxy Buds look quite stylish but are kind of bulky and thick. They are made out of hard plastic and have shiny faceplates which are actually touch-sensitive buttons. The build quality is above-average. They don’t look flimsy or cheap. The earbuds are only IPX2 certified and are not the best choice for sports.
Comfort and fit are satisfying if you have average-sized or large ears. If you have small ears, finding the right fit will be difficult.
The faceplates are touch-sensitive sensitive. You can assign different functions (volume/playback/call controls, Ambient Aware) to either earbud through the Galaxy Wearable app. Galaxy Wearable app will also allow you to check the battery status of each earbud and play with EQ presets. There’s no app for iOS devices.
The most unique feature of these earbuds is the Ambient Aware. This feature will allow you to stay aware of your surroundings by letting a certain amount of ambient sounds in. You can even control the amount of ambient sound you want to hear.
Galaxy Buds feature Bluetooth 5.0. The pairing is simple and the range extends to 100ft under ideal circumstances (no obstacles). When paired with Samsung devices, the connection is perfectly reliable within the 50ft range but it’s quite finicky when you pair the earbuds with an iPhone. Multipoint pairing is not supported.
The battery performance is quite impressive. The advertised playtime is 6h but the earbuds will deliver almost 7.5h at 50% volume. Unfortunately, the case will deliver only 7.5h (one additional charging cycle). So, in total, you’ll get only 15h which is not on par with other earbuds on this list. The earbuds feature proximity sensors – the playback will pause automatically when you take the earbuds out.
The sound signature is quite light. The bass response is even and nicely balanced but somewhat underemphasized and it lacks some real impact. Playing with the EQ presets can improve the bass, but the bass heads won't be happy. On the other hand, the midrange performance is practically flawless. It's very clear, dynamic, and detailed. The same goes for the treble but with one minor flaw – there's some elevation in the treble response around 10kHz that can cause some sibilance and brightness.
Things we don’t like
Comfort can be somewhat problematic. The earbuds are quite thick and bulky, especially when you are using the ear wings and it’s hard to find the right fit if you have small ears. So, in case you have small ears, it’s probably smarter to avoid Galaxy Buds.
The buds are compatible with iOS devices but there’s no Wearable app for iOS so you won’t be able to use all the features. Also, the Galaxy Buds Manager app doesn’t work well on macOS and Windows. The app works best on Samsung phones/tablets and Android devices, in general. If you have an iOS device, it’s probably better to avoid these.
The buds don’t support multipoint pairing – you can’t pair two devices simultaneously with the earbuds.
4. Master & Dynamic MW07 Plus
Continuous playtime: 10h
Cumulative playtime: 35h
Master & Dynamic MW07 Plus earbuds are the most expensive true wireless earbuds on this list and one of the most expensive on the market. Their feature-set is quite impressive and their performance is on par with the price. Along with the Powerbeats Pro, MW07 Plus earbuds have the longest battery life and are great for all kinds of activities including sports and traveling.
What’s in the box?
The box contains your MW07 Plus earbuds, 5 pairs of silicone tips in different sizes, 3 pairs of in-ear wings (the manufacturer calls them fit wings), charging case, USB-C charging cable, USB-C to USB-A adapter, carrying pouch, and all the standard paperwork.
Things we like
The first two things you’re going to notice are unique design with squarish housings and impeccable build quality. The earbuds are quite rugged and very durable. They feature IPX5 water-resistant rating and are perfectly capable of surviving heavy sweating.
We were skeptical about the comfort, mainly because the earbuds look quite chunky but also because of the oddly-shaped comb-like ear wings. They are patented by the Master & Dynamic and they call them fit wings. However, the earbuds were surprisingly comfortable and stable.
Each earbud features call and playback controls. The volume rocker is located on top of the left earbud. The right earbud features the same-looking multifunction button which is used to activate voice assistant, answer calls, or skip songs.
MW07 Plus earbuds utilize Bluetooth 5.0 with an extended range. You’ll get more than 100ft without obstacles (less than 50ft when there are walls and other obstacles). The pairing is fast. You can pair either one or both earbuds with your phone (mono or stereo). The connection is stable within the 50ft range. We haven’t experienced any hiccups or signal loss. The Bluetooth chip features aptX support.
MW07 Plus earbuds are, along with Sony WF-1000XM3, one of only a few true wireless earbud models featuring ANC. Active noise canceling offers decent performance but it’s not on par with Sony’s earbuds or ANC over-ear headphones. It attenuates a great chunk of high-pitched noise but doesn’t work well with low-frequency noise.
The battery is one of the best things about these earbuds. When used in stereo mode with the ANC on, the earbuds will deliver 9-10h. In mono mode, the ANC feature turns off automatically (if you place the other earbud in the case), and you can get more than 11h of playtime in mono mode. Also, the earbuds support fast charge – you will get 5h of playtime after 15mins of charging. The batteries can be fully charged in less than 50mins (when using USB-C connection). The playback will pause automatically when you take the earbuds out thanks to built-in proximity sensors.
The sound reproduction is very accurate. The bass is present, well-textured, and punchy. It’s not overemphasized or boomy. The midrange reproduction is almost perfect. The amount of detail is quite amazing, especially for a pair of true wireless earbuds. The treble is nicely balanced with the rest of the spectrum, without any noticeable peaks that could cause brightness. It's almost sparkling. Overall, MW07 Plus is a pair of great-sounding earbuds.
The mic performance is above-average. Occasionally, your voice will sound hollow or muffled but it will be perfectly intelligible.
Things we don’t like
The only thing we don’t like about MW07 Plus earbuds is the price. They are even pricier than the Powerbeats Pro. If you don’t really need ANC feature, you should check out MW07 GO earbuds which offer similar sonic performance and battery life.
5. Sony WF-1000XM3
Continuous playtime: 7h
Cumulative playtime: 28h
WF-1000XM3 earbuds are one of the best ANC true wireless earbuds on the market but that’s not their only quality. Their battery life is above average and their overall sonic performance is quite impressive. The earbuds are priced under $250 which makes them cheaper than the Powerbeats Pro and MW07 Plus but they are still quite pricey.
What’s in the box?
Inside the box, you will find your WF-1000XM3 earbuds, three pairs of silicone tips, three pairs of foam tips, charging case, USB-C to USB-A charging cable, manual, and a warranty card.
Things we like
The earbuds are very well built and feel quite durable. They are compact and look nice but aren't very ergonomic. Sony opted for elliptically shaped housings that don't really follow the contours of your outer ear. The nozzles and tips are angled and go relatively deep into your ear which should be enough to get a relatively stable and secure fit. However, that kind of fit is not good enough for sports.
Each earbud features touch-sensitive panels. You can use these panels to control the playback and answer calls. You can also use them to activate Quick Attention mode (aka Ambient Aware mode) or to activate Voice assistant. The earbuds come with the Sony | Headphones Connect app (Android or iOS) which allows you to assign different functions to different kinds of taps (including volume controls), turn on/off or adjust the ambient sound control, turn on/off the ANC feature, or adjust the EQ settings. The app has a very nice and user-friendly interface.
The earbuds feature Bluetooth 5.0 with an impressive range that extends over 200ft when there are no obstacles. When used indoors, you’ll get 50-100ft of range. Pairing is simple and quick. NFC pairing is also supported. The connection is quite stable without any hiccups. The Bluetooth chip supports only two basic audio codecs – SBC and AAC.
The battery life is very good. The advertised playtime with the ANC is 6h but you will get almost 7h (at 50% volume). If you turn off the ANC feature (through the app), you will get 8-9 hours of playtime. The earbuds can be fully charged in less than 1.5 hours and the case can provide 3 additional charging cycles. The total playtime is 28h-32h (depending on the ANC).
The mic delivers above-average performance. Your voice will be a little bit thinner on the other end but it will be perfectly clear.
Active noise canceling works well. It's not exactly on par with industry-leading over-ear headphones but it's very good for a pair of earbuds.
The sound reproduction is quite detailed and rich and the frequency response is surprisingly flat. The bass is punchy. There’s a subtle mid-bass/high-bass elevation which could cause some barely noticeable boominess. The mids and vocals are perfectly clear. The treble response is even and nicely balanced with the mids. There’s a small peak around 10kHz that could cause some brightness but it’s not extreme or fatiguing.
Things we don’t like
The comfort can be problematic due to the odd shape of the earbuds. Finding the right fit depends highly on the size but also on the shape of your ears.
The earbuds support only SBC and AAC audio codecs. At this price point, we’ve expected more advanced codecs like aptX, aptX HD or Sony’s LDAC.
Best Regular Wireless Earbuds with Long Battery Life In 2024
As said previously, these are wireless earbuds with a cable connecting two earbuds. They are not completely wire-free and they usually have longer continuous playtimes than true wireless earbuds.
6. Raycon Fitness Bluetooth Earbuds

We did some research on Back Bay and we really like the company's philosophy and way of work. We dig the fact that the manufacturer is very transparent about the design process of their earbuds.

Things to Look for When Buying Wireless Earbuds
When buying wireless earbuds, consider battery life, type (true or regular), price, sound quality, comfort (earbud size, weight, tips), control features, and Bluetooth connection (version, pairing, range, reliability).
This is the list of things to pay attention to when buying wireless earbuds. The order of priorities is slightly altered since we are talking about wireless earbuds with long battery life.
Battery life
We have already covered this topic so here's a short summary. Wireless earbuds have a shorter battery life than over-ear and on-ear headphones. The average continuous playtime for a pair of true wireless earbuds is 4-6 hours, while regular wireless earbuds can deliver more (usually 6-10 hours). The most capable true wireless earbuds will deliver 10-12 hours continuously. When it comes to regular wireless earbuds, some models can deliver up to 20 hours.
True VS Regular Earbuds
We have also discussed the differences between these two earbud types. Your choice depends mostly on your preferences but you should also have in mind that regular wireless earbuds usually deliver longer continuous playtimes than true wireless earbuds. On the other hand, true wireless earbuds come with charging cases that enable you to charge the earbuds on the go which can be quite useful. The cumulative playtime of true wireless earbuds is usually longer than the continuous playtime of regular wireless earbuds but that doesn’t change the fact that you have to use true wireless earbuds in cycles (X hours of use is followed by Y hours of charging).
Price
The priced vary depending on the brand. You can find a decent pair of wireless earbuds with a quite powerful battery for less than $50 (even less than $30). The price can go over $300 for the most advanced models.
Sound quality
To be completely honest, the majority of currently available Bluetooth earbuds are tuned to match the mainstream taste. So, most of them are pretty heavy on the bass, especially the earbuds made for sports. Still, it's not like you can't buy earbuds with a more balanced frequency response. Also, you could soften the bass response by using a different kind of ear tips (foam instead of silicone) or by changing the EQ settings.
Recommended Reading :
Since you’re buying wireless/Bluetooth earbuds, you should also think about the supported Bluetooth audio codecs. Most earbuds support standard AAC and SBC codecs but some earbuds also support more advanced aptX codecs (like aptX LL and aptX HD) and LDAC codec which enable faster data transfers, less aggressive audio compression, more detailed sound reproduction, and better overall sound quality.
Comfort (earbud size and weight, ear tips)
Comfort and fit must not be neglected when it comes to earbuds. They go deep into your ear canal and if the earbuds (earbud housings) are too large or if you don’t use the right ear tip size, you won’t be able to get a perfectly secure fit and satisfying comfort. Ear tip size also affects the bass reproduction and noise isolation. To conclude, since it affects so many things, finding the right pair of ear tips and in-ear/over-ear hooks is one of the most important things.
Controls
Having all the necessary buttons at your fingertips is not absolutely necessary since you can control everything with your phone but it's very convenient. Most regular wireless earbuds have in-line controls (usually 3-button controls with a built-in mic), located somewhere on the cable. These controls are usually very intuitive and easy to use. The situation is a little bit different with true wireless earbuds, which is perfectly understandable since they don't have cables and you have to install all the controls onto the faceplates. Some true wireless earbuds don’t have control buttons, others have touch-sensitive controls or even real clickable buttons. In some cases, you can use either earbud to control the playback and volume but there are also earbuds with separate controls (right earbud is used for controlling the playback and the left one for controlling the volume).
Bluetooth connection (Bluetooth version, pairing, range, reliability)
By default, the only possible connection type for wireless earbuds is Bluetooth connection. So, it is absolutely crucial to pay attention to the connection quality and reliability. The majority of today’s wireless earbuds feature Bluetooth 4.1, 4.2 or 5.0. In most cases, you’ll get a reliable performance within a standard 30ft range. More advanced models with Bluetooth 5.0 can deliver significantly longer range (100ft+). Bluetooth version also affects the battery life – latest Bluetooth versions (4.0 and higher) feature LE (Low Energy) protocol which reduces power consumption and prolongs the battery life.
Conclusion
These are the 10 best wireless earbuds with long battery life. Some earbuds on the list really surprised us with how much playtime they can offer. The Back Bay Duet 50, for example, offers 130 hours of playtime with its charging case, which is a very impressive number.
Even if battery life is your main priority, we strongly recommend you also keep an eye on factors such as audio quality and portability when shopping for a pair of Bluetooth earbuds, as these specifications are just as important.
