PROS

The Yamaha YAS-109 is the updated version of the popular YAS-108, which also has built-in subwoofers. For only a few more dollars, the YAS-109 is a slim soundbar with a minimalist design that comes with dual built-in subwoofers, Clear Voice sound mode for better sound clarity, DTS Virtual:X for an immersive sound experience, and app controls.

CONS

Like many other soundbars with built-in subwoofers at the same price, many users don’t think the sound is as high quality as some higher priced options, as well as traditional surround sound systems. While this is a great soundbar for what you’re paying and an upgrade to very basic soundbars, you may see that it is lacking in the fully immersive surround sound experience you may be looking for, especially in large spaces.

In addition, the Yamaha YAS-109 doesn’t support HDMI ARC and isn’t compatible with Google Home.

BYL 80W 34 Inch Soundbar with Built-in Subwoofer

80 Watt Bestisan Soundbar
  • Upgraded version with high-sensitivity remote
  • 3D surround sound system with DSP technology
  • Advanced Bluetooth 5.0
  • Control via remote or top buttons, LED indicator shows different colors for selected functions

BYL has been making waves in the affordable soundbar market. BYL stands for Better Your Life, and it focuses on using innovative technology to create soundbar speakers that create an immersive theater environment. The BYL 80W 34 Inch Soundbar (on Amazon) uses DSP technology, advanced Bluetooth connectivity and powerful bass to create a high-quality soundbar for its class.

PROS

This 34-inch BYL soundbar is the 2019 upgraded version, which includes up to 80W of power with deep bass, a high-sensitivity remote, DSP technology for a 3D surround sound system, and advanced 5.0 Bluetooth technology. This BYL soundbar looks best with smart TVs from 32 inches to 50 inches, but it can be used with any sized TV.

The DSP technology provides three different modes: music, movie, and dialogue, and it prides itself on providing clear dialogue.

CONS

Users of this BYL soundbar didn’t have many negatives to say about it as far as sound, quality, and overall enjoyment. The only negative was that although the sound was impressive for the price paid, some could see why other people would pay more for an even better sounding system. It seems that this device can meet the expectations of most people, but tech enthusiasts would probably enjoy a higher-end model.

As far as the basics of a soundbar go, this is a great choice, but you are missing an HDMI input and HDMI ARC compatibility, as well as smart home device integration like Alexa and Google Home.

Conclusion

When you are searching for the perfect soundbar with a built-in subwoofer, you can see that there are many options to choose from. The right one for you will depend on your current technology (i.e. if you want to connect a smart home device or have a 4K TV), your budget, your room, and your personal style.

One thing’s for sure: you can eliminate a lot of extra mess by purchasing a soundbar with a built-in subwoofer, not only because it gets rid of many problems right off the bat but also because most soundbars aren’t capable of adding a subwoofer.  No matter which one you choose, you will love the simplicity it gives you, and you won’t have to sacrifice sound quality.
