Despite being a dual-band system (differences between dual-band and tri-band), XD6 performs exceedingly well with an AT&T fiber connection.
With a total backhaul capacity of up to 4804 Mbps under the high-speed 5GHz (160MHz) mode, the system clocked speeds up to 850 Mbps paired with AT&T Fiber 1000. On the other hand, the maximum speed for the 2.4GHz band was 250 Mbps.
It’s further supported by 802.11k/v to deliver roaming assistance to devices that roam around frequently. In other words, it helps devices make faster switches from one network to another when you walk around a house. Added to it, an adaptive QoS minimizes network congestion by not allowing idle tasks to interfere with active ones.
Wi-Fi Coverage
Powered by fast and powerful AX5400 radio, XD6 delivers decent speeds over an area of up to 4000 Sq Ft and connects up to 30 devices simultaneously without any network delays. Although speeds won’t drop massively even if you can connect 5-6 devices more, it might be an issue if playing online games and streaming 4K videos simultaneously.
I tested this mesh in a house with thick walls and performed absolutely fine. So, despite being a two-pack system, the XD6 delivers excellent coverage.
App & Security Features
The multi-platform and feature-packed ASUS app has a user-friendly interface and lets you configure the mesh system by tapping through a series of instructions. Even my not-so-tech-savvy father could do it without my assistance. Other features of this app include changing the router settings, monitoring the connected devices, and removing or adding any devices.
